Dothin 25 MG Description
Dotin 25 mg tablet is a prescription medicine. It is used to manage psychotic and neurotic depression and anxiety disorders. Treating depression not responding to previous therapies and chronic nerve pain in some situations are a few of the other uses of the Dotin tablet.
It is composed of Dosulepin or Dothiepin as its main component. It is an antidepressant medication. The mode of action of the Dotin tablet is by raising the levels of a specific chemical messenger in the brain called serotonin. It is responsible for lowering mood swings. Dotin tablets also help stabilise the chemical substances and decrease the symptoms of these conditions. It is not an addictive medication, but weight gain, confusion, increased heart rate, etc., are some of the side effects of the Dotin tablet.
It is essential to follow your doctor's direction for using the Dotin tablet, as it has a relatively high toxicity in overdose. Uses of Dothin 25 MG
- As per CDSCO, Dotin tablet is used for the following conditions:
- It is used in the treatment of depression. It also includes subtypes of major depressive disorder such as psychotic depression (severe depressive disorder includes some form of psychosis such as hallucinations, delusions, etc.), neurotic depression (neurotic depression is a depression in an emotionally unstable patient)....
- It is indicated in the treatment of depression unresponsive to other antidepressants.
- It is used in the management of anxiety disorder.
- It is also sometimes used to reduce nerve pain, such as fibromyalgia, and prevent migraines.
Contraindications of Dothin 25 MG
- It is contraindicated in the following cases:
- If you have a known allergic reaction to any of its components
- If you are already using other antidepressants or antipsychotics. It can cause hallucinations, seizures and different life-threatening side effects
- If you have any serious heart condition, like a heart attack, irregular heart rhythm
- If you have a rare blood-related illness known as porphyria
- If you have previously been diagnosed with bipolar disorder or mania
- If you have severe liver impairment
- If you are currently expecting or planning for a pregnancy
- If you are breastfeeding
- If you have closed-angle glaucoma, a severe eye condition
- If you notice any sudden mood changes and self-harming or suicidal thoughts

Dotin contains dosulepin as the main ingredient. It belongs to the tricyclic antidepressant class of medicines. It is believed that it works by stopping the reuptake of chemical messengers like norepinephrine and serotonin, neurotransmitters present at the end of the nerve cells in the brain. Directions for Use of Dothin 25 MG
- Take the Dotin tablet exactly as prescribed by the doctor.

Interactions with other medicines
- Do not use Dotin Tablet if you already use other antidepressants like MAO inhibitors such as linezolid, methylene blue, phenelzine, selegiline, etc. They can lead to severe side effects, such as tremors, severe seizures, etc. It can sometimes even lead to death. At least a 14-day gap should be between taking these two medications....
- Do not take other antidepressants with a similar composition like amitriptyline, imipramine, etc. They can exaggerate the side effects of Dotin medicine.
- Do not use Dotin tablets with other medicines that cause sedation and drowsiness, like tranquillisers, opioid or narcotic pain relievers, muscle relaxants, etc., without consulting a doctor.
- If you use antibiotics, antifungal, migraine medicines, Dotin tablets can decrease their effects.
- Dotin tablets can have interactions and side effects with stomach ulcers, antimalarial medicines, heart medicines, and blood thinners.
Interactions with food items
- Try to avoid drinking grapefruit juice and cranberry juice or eating those fruits while taking Dotin Tablets, as they can increase the levels of this medicine in your blood. It can lead to unwanted adverse effects....
Storage and disposal of Dothin 25 MG
