Contraindications of Citalin Forte Tablets
- The concomitant use of this medication with MAOI (monoamine oxidase inhibitors) like Selegiline, rasagiline, isocarboxazid etc., is strictly contraindicated as it may cause serotonin syndrome. In case of use of these medications, Citalin Forte should not be taken until after two weeks of stopping their use and vice versa, as it can be potentially fatal....
- Patients with severe liver disease must avoid taking Citalin Forte as the liver metabolises these medications. In severe liver disease, there may be decreased metabolisation resulting in increased concentrations of the drug and therefore excessive sedation and respiratory depression....
- Clonazepam is contraindicated in patients with acute narrow-angle glaucoma.
- Use cautiously in elderly patients.
- Use cautiously in patients at risk of falling and in debilitated patients.

Interactions with other medicines
- The medication levels are affected by other tablets that use the same enzymes for their metabolism. For example, carbamazepine, rifampin, and phenytoin.
- This medication should not be used with a specific group of medications called MAO inhibitors as it may cause a potentially fatal side effect called serotonin syndrome. This can cause headaches, confusion, nausea, and dizziness....
- Other medications contraindicated due to the possibility of inducing serotonin syndrome include- antidepressants, triptans, fentanyl, lithium, tramadol, tryptophan, buspirone, amphetamines.
- It may cause an increased risk of bleeding when used with aspirin, NSAIDs (painkillers), and other medications which affect blood clotting.
