Cepodem XP 325 tablet is an antibiotic, used to treat various bacterial infections of the throat/neck, lungs, ear, urinary tract and skin. It is a combination medicine containing cefpodoxime and clav

ulanic acid. Cefpodoxime stops the growth of bacteria by inhibiting cell wall formation, while clavulanic acid enhances the effect of cefpodoxime by inhibiting the release of bacterial enzymes. You should take Cepodem XP 325 tablet as prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop taking this medicine, even if you start feeling better, it may result in treatment failure and recurrence of the infection. The common side effects of the Cepodem XP 325 tablet is diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting and gas. Mode of Action of Cepodem Xp 325mg Tablet

How Does It Work?

  • Cefpodoxime controls the growth of bacteria and kills them by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall. However, the bacteria make an enzyme (beta-lactamases) that can destroy Cefpodoxime.
  • Clavulanic acid inactivates this enzyme and hence helps Cefpodoxime to function optimally.
