• Respiratory tract infections (e.g., pharyngitis, tonsillitis, sinusitis, bronchitis)
• Ear infections (otitis media)
• Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
• Skin and soft tissue infections
• Dental infections
• Post-surgical infections

• If you are allergic to cefixime, dicloxacillin or any other ingredients of the Cefitaxe Dx tablet.
• If you are allergic to cephalosporins (a type of antibiotic), penicillins or imipenem.

• Nausea, Vomiting
• Headache, Dizziness
• Diarrhoea
• Indigestion, gases, bloating
• Stomach ache
• Bad taste in the mouth

Other General Warnings

• You are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
• You are a breastfeeding mother.
• You have taken a vaccine against any bacterial infection.
• You are taking oral contraceptive pills, as this medicine may reduce the efficacy of the contraceptive pills. It is suggested that you should use physical contraceptive methods when taking this medication.
• You have a kidney disorder, as prolonged use of this medicine may damage the kidneys all the more.
• You are suffering from a kidney, liver disorder, or any illness related to the stomach that may cause nausea, vomiting and digestive problems.
• You have a weak immune system or are taking medicines that affect the immune system.
• You are suffering from anaemia.
• You are suffering from colitis (a condition of inflammation of the colon).
• You are suffering from diarrhoea.

• The tablets can be taken with food and swallowed whole with a glass of water.
• Take it at the same time for better results.

• Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
• Keep it out of reach of children and pets.

Overdose

• Taking more than the recommended dosage of this medicine may cause severe nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea, which can be severe. An overdose may be harmful to those who are suffering from kidney disease.
• If you experience fits, mental confusion, difficulty in making movements, loss of alertness you should visit your doctor or nearest hospital as it may be early warning signs of encephalopathy a disease of the brain.
• If you have taken too much of this medicine, then contact your doctor or reach out to the nearest hospital immediately.

Missed a Dose

How Does It Work?

• Cefixime works by stopping the growth of bacteria that cause infections. It does this by interfering with the bacteria's ability to form a protective outer wall, which is essential for their survival. Without this wall, the bacteria break apart and die, helping your body clear the infection more effectively.
• Dicloxacillin helps treat infections by killing the bacteria causing them. It works by blocking the bacteria’s ability to make a protective cell wall, which they need to live. Without this wall, the bacteria become weak and break apart, allowing your body to eliminate the infection.

Interactions with other medicines

• Concomitant use of Cefitaxe Dx tablet along with medicines that alter or weaken your immune system, like prednisone, dexamethasone, methylprednisolone, methotrexate, should be avoided.
• Concomitant use of this medicine along with oral contraceptive pills should be avoided as the active ingredients in this medicine reduce the effect of oral contraceptive pills.
• When used together with a medicine used to treat kidney stones and gout (allopurinol), the risk of allergic skin reaction increases.
• Medicines like probenecid, used to treat gout and high uric acid levels, may cause a delay in the secretion of dicloxacillin from the body, leading to unwanted effects.
• Caution should be exercised while using medicines like warfarin along with Cefitaxe Dx tablet as cefixime tends to increase the prothrombin time (delays blood clotting).
• Discuss with your doctor any other medicine, herbal preparation, and supplements you are taking currently to avoid any possible drug interactions.
