This is a lipid-lowering medication that belongs to the statins class of medicines. The medication is used for controlling lower or abnormal cholesterol and lipid levels, and its eneric name is atorvastatin.

Uses

The uses of Aztor 20mg Strip Of 10 Tablets are in the treatment/control of high cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia) levels, low-density lipoproteins (LDLs), hypertriglyceridemia (it is a condition of increased levels of triglycerides in the body) along with the prevention of stroke in individuals with heart conditions

Contraindications

Liver- or kidney-related diseases
Allergic reactions to statins medicines and its components
Pregnant women, breastfeeding women and women who are planning to start a family
Muscle injury or a history of muscle-related problems
Increased blood sugar
Recent surgery
Internal bleeding in the brain
Chronic alcoholics
Low levels of thyroid hormones

The common side effects of Aztor 20mg Strip Of 10 Tablets are headache, bleeding from nose, nausea, constipation, diarrhoea, pain in joints, muscles, throat and back, abnormal liver functions or abnormal values of creatine kinase, fatigue and dizziness
The rare side effects of the medicine are loss of appetite, nightmares, trouble in sleeping, numbness or tingling sensation in the fingers, rashes and itching, rhabdomyolysis (immediate emergency medical care is recommended), severe illness with peeling and swelling of the skin, mouth, eyes and genitals, and blisters on palms of hands or soles of feet

Pregnancy

This medicine should not be taken during pregnancy as it may cause harm to the foetus.

Breast Feeding

This medicine should not be taken during breastfeeding as it is known to pass via breastmilk to the infant and cause lethal effects.

Driving

The administration of this medicine is not known to affect the driving ability of an individual.

Alcohol

Heavy alcohol consumption while on the prescription of this medicine may increase the risks of liver-related diseases or failure, so alcohol intake should be avoided while taking this medicine.
