Fusidic Acid
Molecule Description
Fusidic Acid is a combination of antibiotic and steroid. It treats certain bacterial infections. It should be used as a topical application on the skin.
Uses of Fusidic Acid
It is used to treat conditions where the skin is infected by germs (bacteria) such crusty, weeping and swollen patch of skin, inflammation of the skin and spots, infected cuts and grazes.
Contraindications of Fusidic Acid
When should one not use Fusidic Acid
Do not use Fusidic Acid if you have any allergic reaction to this medicine.
Side effects of Fusidic Acid
Common side effects of this drug are:
- Irritation at site of application (including pain, stinging, burning and skin redness)
- Itching
- Rash
- Hives
- Skin swelling and blistering

There is inadequate evidence of safety in pregnancy. Topical Fusidic Acid can be used during pregnancy only after consulting your doctor.

You should avoid applying this cream on or near your breasts. If you need to use it, you should wash your breasts thoroughly before giving a feed. Ask your doctor for further advice.
