Zocin Injection is used to manage moderate to severe pain. It consists of pentazocine as the active component. It belongs to the class of opioid or narcotic pain relievers. The mode of action of Zocin injection is to help relieve chronic (long term), persistent and moderate to severe pain by blocking pain signals from nerve cells in various ways. It is used to reduce localised or general pain.
Zocin Injection is a safe medication when taken in the prescribed dosage. Consult your doctor before taking this medication. It is mostly prescribed for an individual in sustained pain. Try not to use this medicine continuously for a long duration without consulting a doctor. It has high addiction/abuse potential, so the dosage of Zocin injection should be monitored.
Withdrawal effects can be experienced with this medication after long-term use. Zocin Injection has the risks of abuse and addiction. Zocin Injections has potential side effects; most of them do not need any medical attention.

Contraindications
It is contraindicated in the following cases:
If you have a known allergic reaction to pentazocine or any component of this medication
If you are using other opioid pain relievers, sleeping pills, antidepressants or antipsychotics
If you have liver failure or other conditions that affect the liver’s functioning, the medicine increases the risk of adverse reactions
If you have a history of addiction or dependency issues
If you are pregnant, this medicine can cause life-threatening withdrawal symptoms in newborn babies
If you have stomach and intestinal bleeding or perforation
If you have central nervous system depression (slow and steady decline of respiration)
If you have intestinal obstructions, like paralytic ileus
If you are suffering from breathing issues like asthma
If your body has been in shock, and sufficient blood is not being pumped to all body parts
It should not be given to children below 13 years of age, as it contains pentazocine, an opioid medication that is contraindicated in children.

Directions for Use
- Take a Zocin Injection exactly as directed by the doctor.
- Take Zocin injection before or after consuming food.
- Consult a doctor or healthcare professional as they should administer it. The injection can be given intramuscularly (IM) most of time. Sometimes these injections can be given intravenously (into a vein).
- Wash hands carefully before using this medicine.
- Shake the vial before using it.
- Clean the injection site with some rubbing alcohol before injecting the medicine.
- Do not take other medication with Zocin Injection without informing your doctor.
Storage and disposal
Store Zocin Injections in dry conditions at room temperature. Do not let the medication freeze. Store away from direct sunlight. Dispose of this injection packaging after use. Check the expiration date before taking the Zocin Injection. Do not use it if it is past the expiration date. Keep Zocin Injections away from the reach of children and pets.

Overdose
Zocin Injection overdose can cause abdominal pain, dizziness, fainting, vomiting, seizures, low blood sugar, sweating, cardiac arrest, lethargy, low blood pressure, liver problems (yellow skin and eyes), confusion and coma. In the case of Zocin Injection overdose, seek immediate medical treatment from the nearest medical centre.
Missed a Dose
If you have missed a dose of the Zocin Injection, it is ok to take it when you remember it or when your pain has increased. This injection is given by a doctor or a healthcare professional. It is also used only for a short time. So missing a dose is not common.

Zocin Injections contain pentazocine as an active component. It is an opioid pain reliever. Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Do not take Zocin Injection with other opioid pain medications like Tramadol, as they can cause serious adverse effects.
- Do not take Zocin Injection with antidepressants like Linezolid, Naltrexone, Methylene blue, etc. They can cause increased side effects like lethargy, dizziness, drowsiness, tremors, vomitings, etc.
- Do not take it with antihistamines like Diphenhydramine and Cetirizine, as they can increase the effect of drowsiness.
- Do not take Zocin Injections with medicines that lower respiration like sleeping pills, other central depressant medicine or tranquilisers. This can cause life-threatening side effects.
Interactions with food items
- Zocin Injection does not adversely interact with food. It can be taken before or after a meal. If you suffer from any stomach problems, take this medicine after having food.
