Medical Description

A combination of two molecules: flunarizine (calcium channel blocker) and propranolol (beta-blocker) are used to formulate Cardimol plus 5 mg.

Uses

How Does It Work?

The combination of flunarizine and propranolol in Cardimol plus 5 mg function by increasing the migraine activation threshold and stabilising reactive nerve cells. Flunarizine plays a role in improving blood flow and dilating blood vessels in the brain that helps prevent migraine. Propranolol plays a role in reducing cerebral blood flow by acting on the brain’s blood vessels. It has antihypertensive, anxiety-reducing and anti-arrhythmic properties. It is effective in reducing the frequency and severity of migraine headaches.

Interactions with other medicines

Inform your doctor about any medication, supplements or herbals you are taking while taking Cardimol plus 5 mg. Medications belonging to any of the following groups, in particular, should be informed to the doctor: Anti-diabetics, anti-infectives, anti-hypertensives, medicines for irregular heart rhythm, anti-coagulants, medicines for reducing acidity, and other anti-migraine medicines If you are taking clonidine for migraines and Cardimol together, do not stop unless advised by your doctor
