Medical Description
Veltam Plus tablets are used to treat Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), a condition where the prostate gland enlarges. These tablets contain a combination of tamsulosin and dutasteride, which work together to alleviate BPH symptoms. Tamsulosin relaxes the muscles in the prostate and bladder, improving urine flow, while dutasteride helps shrink the enlarged prostate gland.
Common side effects of Veltam Plus may include dizziness, lightheadedness, drowsiness, a runny or stuffy nose, reduced semen volume, testicular pain or swelling, breast enlargement, or breast tenderness. It may also affect sexual function, such as decreased libido.
It's crucial to take Veltam Plus exactly as prescribed by your doctor. This medication is not intended for the treatment of prostate cancer.
Before starting treatment, inform your doctor about any existing liver or kidney problems. Pregnant women and children should avoid contact with any leaking medication, as it can be absorbed through the skin and may harm a developing male fetus. Fertile men should use condoms during sexual intercourse to prevent pregnancy. Veltam Plus is not recommended for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age. Caution is advised when using this medication in elderly patients.

Contraindications
- If you are allergic to tamsulosin, dutasteride or any of the ingredients of the Veltam plus.
- If you are allergic to soya and peanut.
- If you have a liver disorder or liver function problem.
- If you experience giddiness or fall when you gradually get up from a sitting position.

Directions for Use
- Veltam Plus tablet should be taken as instructed by your doctor.
- It should be swallowed as a whole with a sufficient amount of water after the meal.
Storage and disposal
- Store it below 30°C in the original container. Protect it from light and moisture.
- Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
- This medicine is absorbed through the skin if anyone comes in contact with this medicine by mistake, the contact area should be washed immediately with soap and water.

How Does It Work?
- Tamsulosin helps in relaxing the prostate and bladder muscles whereas Dutasteride interferes with the formation of the hormone responsible for the enlarged prostate gland.
- This combination has complementary mechanisms of action which improves the symptoms like the urinary flow and urinary retention related discomfort and also the need for surgery to remove the enlarged prostate gland.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Veltam Plus tablet may interact with other medicines, discuss with your doctor about all the medicines, supplements or herbal preparations you are taking. Also, you should inform your doctor if you have a planned surgery or vaccination schedule.
- Your blood pressure can decrease if you are taking blood pressure-lowering medicines, you are on anaesthesia or taking sildenafil, or prazosin along with a Veltam Plus tablet.
- Concomitant use of Veltam Plus tablet along with Ketoconazole, Paroxetine, Verapamil, and Diltiazem should be avoided as there can be increased chances of side effects.
- Long-term use of this tablet along with Ritonavir, Indinavir, Nefazodone, Itraconazole, and Ketoconazole should be avoided.
- Other medicines like Cimetidine, Diclofenac, and Warfarin should not be used if you are taking Veltam Plus tablet.
