Valstead 450 MG Description
Valstead 450 mg Strip of 2 Tablets contains an antiviral molecule containing Valganciclovir. This medicine is used to prevent cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection, which can occur after organ transplantat
ion. Its also used to treat CMV related eye infections in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Valstead 450mcg tablets contain Valganciclovir as the active molecule. Upon administration, Valganciclovir gets converted to its active form called ganciclovir which is responsible for acting on the virus. Ganciclovir inhibits the DNA synthesis of viruses, thereby killing them. This medicine is only available on prescription and should be used at a dose and for a duration recommended by a doctor. This tablet is not recommended if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you are using any other medications or suffering from any health condition.

Directions for Use of Valstead 450 MG
- Please take Valstead tablets as directed by your doctor
- The tablets must be swallowed whole with a glass of water
- Do not chew, crush, or break the tablets
- Do not use more or less than the recommended dose
- Take the tablets with food
- Take the tablets at a same time everyday
Interactions of Valstead 450 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- Probenecid may reduce the excretion of valganciclovir resulting in valganciclovir toxicity
- Valganciclovir increases blood levels of didanosine
- Concomitant use of Imipenem-cilastatin causes convulsions
- Concomitant use of zidovudine can cause anaemia and low levels of white blood cells
- Concomitant use of zidovudine, didanosine, stavudine, tenofovir, adefovir, ciclosporin, tacrolimus, mycophenolate mofetil, doxorubicin, vinblastine, vincristine, hydroxyurea, trimethoprim/sulphonamides, dapsone, amphotericin B, flucytosine, or pentamidine causes toxicity...

Overdose
Overdose can cause upset stomach, unusual bleeding or bruising, weakness, stomach pain, fast heartbeat, diarrhoea, uncontrollable shaking of hands, seizures, blood in urine, yellowing of eyes or skin, excessive tiredness, pale skin, sore throat, fever, cough, or chills. Contact your doctor or visit the nearest hospital immediately in case of an overdose....
Missed a Dose
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it. In case it is time for your next dose, and take the current dose. Do not take two doses at a time to make up for the missed dose
