Pantosec D SR Capsule is a combination medicine commonly prescribed for acidity, heartburn, acid reflux, stomach ulcers, and digestive issues such as nausea and vomiting. It contains two active ingredients: pantoprazole, which reduces excess acid in the stomach, and domperidone, which helps control nausea and prevents food and acid from moving back into the food pipe. Together, these actions provide quick relief from discomfort and help protect the stomach lining from further damage.
This medicine should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The usual recommendation is to take Pantosec D SR once daily, preferably in the morning on an empty stomach or at least one hour before a meal. Taking it at the same time every day ensures better results and reduces stomach-related side effects. Never self-medicate or stop the medicine suddenly without your doctor’s advice, as this can cause your symptoms to return or worsen.
There are other medicines available with the same combination of pantoprazole and domperidone, such as Pan D capsule, Pantocid DSR capsule, Dompan SR, and Uplan DSR capsule. Contraindications
- If you are allergic to pantoprazole, domperidone, or any of the ingredients of Pantosec D SR Capsule.
- If you have stomach or intestinal bleeding, blockage, or perforation.
- If you have a prolactinoma (a tumour of the pituitary gland that produces excess prolactin).
- If you have moderate to severe liver problems.
- If you have certain heart conditions, including congestive heart failure, an existing heart rhythm abnormality, or significant electrolyte abnormalities such as low potassium or magnesium.
- If you are taking medicines that can prolong the QT interval (affect the heart's electrical rhythm) or potent CYP3A4 inhibitors (medicines that can increase domperidone levels).
- If you are taking a medicine containing rilpivirine, used to treat HIV infection.

- You develop watery diarrhoea or fever after taking this medicine.
- You experience black stools.
- You have a stomach tumour or cancer.
- You have a history of fractures or have osteoporosis or are taking steroids.
- If you get a rash on your skin after sun exposure. Stop treatment and inform your doctor as soon as possible.
- You are on this medicine for a long time. Your blood magnesium levels may drop, and your doctor may perform regular tests to monitor them.
- You have heart disease, kidney or liver disease, or take medicines that may affect heart rhythm.
- You take other medicines, including antibiotics, antifungals, medicines for HIV, or medicines for heart conditions.
Directions for Use
- Take it as prescribed, usually before a meal. Follow the product instructions or your doctor's advice about timing.
- Take it at the same time each day, and for the period your doctor set.
- Do not continue beyond the prescribed period without a review because it contains domperidone.
- If you have been taking it for a prolonged period, consult your doctor before stopping or changing treatment.
- Tell your doctor if you take any medicine for the heart, for HIV, an antifungal, an antibiotic, or a blood thinner.

- Store this medicine below 25 degrees C.
- Protect it from light.
- Keep it out of the reach of children.
- Keep the capsules in the original strip until you take them. Do not use them after the expiry date, and return unused medicine to a pharmacy.
