Pantodac 40 MG Description

Pantodac 40 tablet is a medicine used to reduce acid production in the stomach. It is used for the treatment of ulcers and acid reflux disease or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It contains pantoprazole as an active ingredient.

It works by reducing the amount of acid produced in the stomach by blocking a pump called the proton pump in the stomach wall responsible for the formation of acid. This medicine should be taken on an empty stomach as prescribed by a doctor.

Along with taking medicine on time making certain lifestyle modifications can help you manage your acidity problem better. Try eating smaller meals, eating slowly, avoiding overeating and lying down immediately after having a meal, limiting alcohol intake, avoiding smoking and maintaining a healthy weight, consult your doctor to understand what works for you best.

Uses of Pantodac 40 MG

Pantodac Tablet is used for the treatment of ulcer and acid reflux disease or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

Contraindications of Pantodac 40 MG

If you are allergic to pantoprazole or similar medicines or other ingredients of Pantodac Tablet.
If you are taking rilpivirine used in HIV treatment.

Pregnancy

Can I take Pantodac Tablet during pregnancy?

Limited information is available on use of Pantodac Tablet in pregnancy, use only if prescribed by your doctor.

Breast Feeding

Can I take Pantodac Tablet while breastfeeding?

Pantodac Tablet can pass into breast milk. It is advised not to take medicine unless prescribed by your doctor.

Driving

Can I drive if I have consumed Pantodac Tablet?

This medicine has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive. However, you may feel dizzy or experince visual disturbance after taking this medicine. Avoid driving if affected.

Alcohol

Can I consume alcohol with Pantodac Tablet?

No known interactions with alcohol, discuss with your doctor if you comsume alcohol too often and accordingly he may suggest you what will work best for you. Alcohol consumption may be associated with acidity problem and long term consumption can lead to other complications.

Other General Warnings

Talk to your doctor if

You have liver problems.
You are taking painkiller medicines.
You have a personal or family history of stomach cancer.
You are taking medicines used to treat HIV.
You have weak and brittle bones (osteoporosis).
You have low levels of vitamin B12. Pantodac Tablet is known to reduce the absorption of vitamin B12 after long-term use (longer than 3 years).
If you are on this medicine for more than three months, your blood magnesium levels may drop. Your doctor may advise you to perform regular tests for the same.
On exposure to the sun, if you get rash on your skin, stop your treatment with Pantoprazole and inform your doctor as this may be a symptom of subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus (SCLE).
You are supposed to do a blood test (Chromogranin A). This medicine may alter the results.

Pantodac Tablet should be taken as directed by your doctor
This medicine is taken 1 hour before food, on an empty stomach

Storage and disposal of Pantodac 40 MG

Store in cool and dry place away from sunlight
Keep it out of the reach of childrens and pets

Quick Tips of Pantodac 40 MG

It is advised to take this medication exactly as directed. Anti-reflux medications, on the other hand, should be taken in the morning on an empty stomach or with food for maximum effectiveness.
You can change your lifestyle by avoiding foods that cause acidity, such as carbonated drinks and oily/fried foods, exercising regularly, and maintaining a healthy weight.
It is also recommended that you limit your alcohol consumption and stop smoking for better acidity treatment. It is recommended that you reduce your stress and get enough sleep each night.
Inform your doctor if you have been using this medicine as a continuous treatment for acidity for more than 4 weeks or if the symptoms persist even after you have stopped taking it.
This medication may interfere with the actions of other medications taken at the same time. Notify your doctor if you are taking any other medications.
Consult your doctor if you experience nausea, fullness, or bloating, especially after eating, even after taking this medication.
