Medical Description

Pantodac DSR capsule is an antacid and anti-reflux medicine. It contains pantoprazole and domperidone as active substances. It is used to treat and provide relief of the symptoms of acid reflux disease like heartburn and chest discomfort.

Avoid drinking caffeinated beverages like tea, coffee, soda, and spicy, junk food during treatment with this medicine which otherwise may increase your acidity. Long-term use of this medicine may cause vitamin B12 deficiency.

Inform your doctor if you have a deficiency of vitamin B12 before taking the medicine. Take this medicine as suggested by the doctor and in the dose and duration prescribed. Do not stop taking the medicine on your own.

Pantop Dsr, Pantosec Dsr, Pantakind Dsr, and Pan D are a few more medicines that also include pantoprazole and domperidone.

Before using this medicine, inform the doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding and about your detailed medical history. This medicine is not meant for use in children less than 12 years of age.

Uses

Pantodac DSR capsule is used in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, not responding to pantoprazole alone. This condition leads to acid regurgitating from the stomach into the food pipe, causing heartburn, chest discomfort, or acidity.

Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

  • Pantodac DSR capsule works by the combined action of its two ingredients - pantoprazole and domperidone.
  • A pump called the proton pump in the stomach is responsible for the secretion of stomach acids. Pantoprazole binds to this proton pump in stomach cells, thus blocking acid secretion.
  • Domperidone increases the motility of the stomach and intestines so that acid does not reflux back into the food pipe.

  • Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements, or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
  • Particular care should be taken if you are taking medicines used to treat HIV infections like atazanavir, to thin the blood like warfarin, to treat fungal infections like ketoconazole, itraconazole, posaconazole, to treat infections (antibiotics) like erythromycin, and to treat heart diseases or medicines that may affect your heart.
  • Do not take this medicine along with methotrexate.

Interactions with food items

It is recommended to take Pantodac DSR at least 30 minutes before meals. This helps optimize the absorption of the medication and enhances its effectiveness in reducing stomach acid.
