Obimet SR 500 tablet is a medicine used to treat type 2 diabetes. It contains metformin, which helps to lower blood sugar levels. Obimet 500 SR works by decreasing the production of glucose and reducing its absorption in the body. It is important to take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. It should be taken with or after food and you should not take more than the prescribed dose. Do not stop taking Obimet 500 SR without talking to your doctor first.
Type 2 diabetes is a condition in which the body does not make enough insulin or does not use insulin properly. This can lead to high blood sugar levels, which can cause serious health problems such as heart disease, kidney disease, blindness and poor blood flow in the hands and legs. Glyciphage SR 500 tablets, Gluconorm SR 500 tablets, Obimet SR 500 tablets, Melmet SR 500 tablets, Biciphage SR 500 tablets and Bigomet SR 500 tablets also contain metformin as their active ingredient.

Contraindications
- If you are allergic to Metformin or any other ingredient of Obimet Sr Tablet.
- If you have kidney failure.
- If you have several conditions such as dehydration, shock and severe infection.
- If you have acid-base imbalance in the body or diabetes complication such as diabetes ketoacidosis.
- If you have conditions such as heart failure, lung failure, shock, heart attack.
- If you have liver disease.
- If you had unconsciousness due to either extremely high or low blood sugar level.

- Verapamil, rifampicin, cimetidine, olaparib alter the effectiveness of Obimet Sr Tablet in the body.
- Diuretics and thiazide, oral contraceptives, isoniazid, corticosteroids, phenytoin, nicotinic acid, calcium channel blockers, thyroid medicines, oestrogen tablets, ACE inhibitors, angiotensin II receptors antagonists, etc. increases blood sugar levels and can cause damage in the kidneys, especially in individuals who are suffering from kidney disorders.
