Medical Description
Nebicard 2.5 tablet contains nebivolol as its active ingredient. This medicine helps in lowering high blood pressure, thus helping to reduce the risk of serious heart diseases and stroke. It relieves chest pain and regularizes heartbeats. This medicine is also advised in elderly patients as a combination therapy for pumping disorders of the heart (chronic heart failure).
Nebistar 2.5 tablets, Nebi 2.5mg tablets, Nodon 2.5 tablets and Nebivol 2.5mg tablets are all medications that contain nebivolol as their active ingredient. This medicine is not advised in women who are pregnant or lactating.
Nebicard 2.5 tablet is to be taken in the correct dosage and for the exact duration as prescribed by your doctor. It is to be taken cautiously if you are already taking a blood pressure-lowering medicine, medicines to treat diabetes or an overactive thyroid.
Uses
- It is used to treat high blood pressure.
- In patients above 70 years of age, it can also be used to manage mild to moderate chronic heart failure (a condition wherein the heart doesn’t pump a sufficient amount of blood to the bodily organs) along with standard therapy.
Contraindications
- If you are allergic to the active ingredient nebivolol, or any other ingredient of Nebicard 2.5 tablet.
- If you have any pre-existing health condition such as liver or kidney problem, any kind of heart disorder, breathing problem like asthma, low blood pressure etc.
- If you are experiencing heartbeats slower than regular (bradycardia).
- If you have poor blood circulation.
- If you are consuming other medicines with ingredients floctafenine (an anti-inflammatory agent) and sultopride (used to treat brain-related disorders), heart medications.
- If you are suffering from excessive acid production in the body due to the body's inability to excrete acid /imbalance in the body's acid-base levels (metabolic acidosis).

- You have any kind of pre-existing health condition such as heart-related disorder, liver problem, low blood pressure, diabetes, etc.
- You are already taking any medications regularly.
- If you experience any allergies, slow heart rate, drop in blood pressure, fluid retention, worsened heart condition, etc, immediately stop the treatment. The doctor may reduce the dose as needed.
- If you have diabetes, then monitor the glucose level regularly, as it may mask the symptoms of low blood sugar levels.
- If you have non-allergic asthma or respiratory problems, then the doctor may start the treatment with the lowest effective dose.
- Do not stop the treatment abruptly on your own.
