Medical Description
Montair-LC is an anti-allergic medication that contains a combination of montelukast and levocetirizine as active ingredients. It is used to relieve the symptoms of allergic rhinitis, including a runny or stuffed nose, airway blockage, sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and other allergic symptoms. The medication works by blocking the release of chemicals responsible for producing allergy symptoms in the body.
It is recommended to take Montair-LC at bedtime to minimize the risk of dizziness. Individuals with kidney problems or those on dialysis should not take Montair-LC. Before starting treatment with Montair-LC, it is important to discuss all medications, supplements, and existing health conditions with your doctor.
Common side effects of this tablet include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, dry mouth, headache, skin rash, flu-like symptoms, and fatigue. The majority of these are temporary and usually resolve on their own over time. If you are concerned about any of these side effects, contact your doctor immediately. Montelukast and levocetirizine are active ingredients of Telekast L, Montina L, Odimont Lc, Montek LC tablet and Monticope tablets.
While taking this medicine, you may experience fatigue or dizziness (use caution when driving). Before using this medicine, inform the doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding and about your detailed medical history.

Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
- Montelukast blocks certain natural substances called leukotrienes, which may cause allergies. It reduces swelling, relaxes airways and helps to make breathing easier.
- Levocetirizine blocks the action of a natural substance called histamine. Histamine is produced by the body during the event of an allergic reaction.
- The combined action of these two components present in the Montair-LC tablet helps in relieving the symptoms of allergic rhinitis or hay fever.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Some medicine may alter the way the Montair LC tablet works or Montair LC can itself reduce the effectiveness of other medicine.
- Discuss with your doctor about all the medicines, supplements or herbal preparations you are taking to avoid any interactions.
- Medicines used to treat fits or epilepsy like phenytoin, medicines used to treat anxiety or sleeplessness (CNS depressants) like phenobarbital and medicines used to treat tuberculosis like rifampicin should be used cautiously when taking Montair LC tablet.
