Description
Misolast Tablet belong to a group of medications known as abortifacient and antiulcer medications. Its active ingredient is misoprostol. Misolast Tablet are primarily used for medical termination of
pregnancy and to control post-delivery bleeding. It is also used in the treatment of gastric ulcers. It can be used in the first ten weeks of pregnancy, that is, for up to 70 days after your last menstruation. Misolast Tablet may be given alone or in combination with other medications to achieve the maximum benefit. It should only be taken after it is advised by the doctor, and as directed by them. The medicine can take 24 to 48 hours to show its effects and cause bleeding. Inform your doctor if you are using an intrauterine device or have had an ectopic pregnancy in the past. Some common side effects of this Tablet are nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, cramps, and uterine bleeding.

Contraindications of Misolast 200 MG
- If you are hypersensitive or allergic to misoprostol or other prostaglandin analogues and other inactive substances present in Misolast Tablet.
- If you have ulcers that are caused by taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications.
- If you are pregnant and do not desire medical abortion. The medication can result in birth defects, abortions, uterine rupture, etc.

Pregnancy

Taking Misolast Tablet during pregnancy will cause abortion of the pregnancy. Take the medication after consulting with your doctor if you want a medical termination of a pregnancy.
Breast Feeding

Can I take Misolast Tablet while breastfeeding?
A:
No. Misolast Tablet are not recommended for mothers who are breastfeeding. The limited studies conducted indicate that Misolast Tablet may pass into breast milk in small amounts. Hence, it is advised to consult your doctor if you need to take Misolast Tablet if you are breastfeeding.
Driving
Q:
Can I drive if I have taken Misolast Tablet?
A:
No. Misolast Tablet can cause side effects like blurry vision, confusion, and bouts of dizziness. It is advised to wait for a couple of hours before driving after taking Misolast Tablet. The same caution should be exercised in the case of operating heavy machinery. Avoid driving in case you experience any of these symptoms and wait for them to pass.
Alcohol

Can I consume alcohol with the Misolast Tablet?
A:
No. Consuming alcohol with Misolast Tablet is not advised. Mixing alcohol with Misolast Tablet can lead to adverse reactions that include fever, nausea, fatigue, upset stomach, and dizziness.
Other General Warnings
Talk to your doctor if
- You have severe vaginal bleeding.
- You have severe anaemia.
- You are above the age of 30. There is an increased risk of developing a rupture or tear in the uterus when the medication is used for labour induction.
- You smoke regularly. This increases the risk of side effects.
- There is an increased risk of developing bacterial infections after using this medication.

Directions for Use of Misolast 200 MG
- Misolast Tablet must be taken as and when directed by your doctor.
- Take Misolast Tablet at the same time every day for optimal pharmacological effects.
- Swallow Misolast Tablet as a whole with a glass of water. Do not break, crush or chew it. This can reduce its efficacy.
- Misolast Tablet can be taken with or without food.
- Do not stop taking or alter the dosage of Misolast Tablet without consulting your doctor.
Interactions of Misolast 200 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- To avoid side effects associated with Misolast Tablet, it is important to inform the doctor about all medicines and health supplements you are currently taking.
- Misolast Tablet may interact with the following medicines:
- Dinoprostone (medication to prepare the cervix for induction of labour) - May overstimulate the uterus and cause tear or rupture of the cervix if not dilated properly
- Antacids containing magnesium (medication to neutralise the acid in your stomach)
Interactions with food items
- Avoid consuming grapefruit juice while you are taking Misolast Tablet since it can change the level of medication in the blood.
Storage and disposal of Misolast 200 MG
Store the Misolast Tablet at room temperature in a cool and dry area, away from sunlight. Keep it out of reach of children and pets at home. Keep Misolast Tablet in their original packaging. Do not take medicine if it is past the expiry date and dispose of it with biomedical waste....
Dosage of Misolast 200 MG
Overdose
If you or anyone you know has overdosed on the medication, contact your nearest hospital or your general practitioner for further advice. An overdose of Misolast Tablet can lead to nausea, vomiting, dizziness, tremors, etc....
Missed a Dose
If you forget to take a dose of the Misolast Tablet, take it as soon as you can. If the gap is too long or it is almost time for the next dose, skip the dose you have missed and continue the regular schedule. Do not take an extra dosage of the Misolast Tablet to compensate. Consult with your doctor if you miss multiple doses....
