Interactions with other medicines
Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatorys (NSAIDs) can lead to increased levels of Methotrexate in the blood leading to toxicity. When NSAIDs and salicylates are taken at the same time as low doses of methotrexate, caution should be exercised. In an animal model, these medications were found to reduce methotrexate excretion and possibly increase its toxicity. Penicillins may also increase levels of Methotrexate in the blood which might lead to toxicity. Antibiotics like tetracycline, chloramphenicol, and nonabsorbable broad range antibiotics can reduce methotrexate absorption in the intestine....
