Description

Mencevax Acwy is a vaccine that helps protect against meningococcal meningitis, a serious infection of the membranes covering the brain and spinal cord. It protects against four types (serogroups) of the bacteria that can cause this infection: A, C, W135, and Y. Mencevax Acwy vaccine works by helping your body create its own defense (antibodies) against the four specific types of meningococcal bacteria (A, C, W135, and Y). When you receive the vaccine, your immune system recognizes the purified sugars from the bacteria as foreign. This triggers your body to produce antibodies that are specifically designed to fight off these bacteria if you are exposed to them in the future.
