Medical Description

Loranza Injection has lorazepam as an active component. It is used to treat seizures that occur continuously (status epilepticus) within 5 minutes. It is also used for anxiety, panic attack, sleep disturbance and social phobias. It gives short term relief from anxiety symptoms such as nervousness, increased breathing, increased heart rate, excessive sweating, weakness or lack of concentration. This injection should not be given without the doctor’s approval. The Loranza Injection has a habit-forming tendency if taken in larger doses or for a longer period of time. Don’t stop taking Loranza Injection until your doctor recommends you, even if you feel better. Sudden stoppage can lead to serious health problems, withdrawal symptoms, convulsions, behavioural disorders, tremors, etc.

Loranza Injection shows congenital malformations can have side effects on the baby and can be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Consult the doctor before taking medications during pregnancy. It is observed that infants of mothers who took Loranza Injection for long-duration before delivery has shown withdrawal symptoms after the birth. It is observed that Loranza Injection transfers through the placenta. Symptoms such as hypoactivity, hypotonia, decreased body temperature, respiratory depression, apnea, feeding problems have been reported in neonates born of mothers who have received Loranza Injection during the late phase of pregnancy or at delivery.

Loranza injections are not safe to take while breastfeeding, as they pass through the mother's milk in a significant amount, which can affect the baby. But breastfed babies should be closely monitored as not many studies have been done, and very limited information is available.

Directions for Use

  • Loranza Injection should be administered by a skilled healthcare professional.
  • It should be given with caution in patients who have a mental illness or have a suicidal tendency.
  • The patient’s airway should be maintained before giving the Loranza Injection.
  • Special care is taken for the ill or old patients before giving Loranza Injection because of the possibility of a decrease in oxygen level in the body leading to a heart attack (hypoxic cardiac arrest).

Storage and disposal

Store Loranza Injection between 2-8 degrees celsius temperature, away from direct hotness and light in a water/airproof compartment. Try not to freeze it and get them far from pets and youngsters. Discard within 28 days of initial use. The injection must be carefully disposed of.

  • Seek medical advice before taking medicines that decrease blood levels of potassium or magnesium, as they have the tendency to increase the risk of life-threatening heart rhythm disorder.
