Levesam 500 Tablet is a medication that is used to treat epileptic seizures (fits). It is an anti-epileptic drug that can be used alone or in combination with other medications. It works by reducing abnormal electrical activity in the brain and helps in preventing seizures as long as you continue taking it.
You can take Levesam 500 Tablet with or without food, but it is recommended to take it at the same time every day for the best results. The dosage will be determined by your condition and how well you respond to the medication. Your doctor will recommend the appropriate dose for you, and usually, it is prescribed as a long-term treatment.
Even if you feel fine, it is essential to keep taking this medication for as long as your doctor has prescribed. Some of the most common side effects of Levesam 500 Tablet include headache, irritation, sleepiness, behavioural changes, aggressive behaviour, and decreased appetite. Side effects are more common in the first few weeks and usually diminish as your body adjusts to the medication.

Interactions with other medicines
- Some medicines can affect the way Levesam Tablet works, or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
- Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements, or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
- It has been observed that taking levetiracetam and methotrexate together reduces methotrexate clearance, resulting in higher/longer blood methotrexate concentrations that are potentially hazardous.
- Co-administration of levetiracetam and a laxative called macrogol may decrease the efficacy of levetiracetam. Hence, use macrogol one hour before or after using levetiracetam.
