- You have kidney-related problems or salt (electrolyte imbalance in the body), your doctor may ask you to do a regular blood test.
- You have abnormal heart rhythm (heart-block) and you experience fainting, short-lasting loss of consciousness, dizziness, tiredness, shortness of breath, chest pain, irregular heart-beat or confusion.
- You have a heart problem called Sick Sinus Syndrome or Myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle) or recently suffered a heart attack.
- You have Beri-beri disease (caused due to deficiency of vitamin B1).
- You are taking water pills or swelling of the heart sac.
- You have lung-related problems or less oxygen supply to certain parts of your body.
- You have a thyroid disorder, malabsorption syndrome or salt imbalance.

How Does It Work?
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- The sensitivity of Lanoxin is increased by certain medicines such as water pills, steroids, lithium-containing products (used for brain-related disorders) and Carbenoxolone (used for ulcers).
- Certain medicines may increase the levels of Lanoxin in the body and increase its effects, such as few antibiotics, antifungals, antivirals, medicines used for heart problems, statins and few medicines acting on the bladder.
- Combinations that can decrease the effects of digoxin when co-administered are antacids, laxatives, certain antimicrobials, chemotherapy medicines, metoclopramide (used to treat nausea and vomiting), salbutamol (for asthma), adrenaline and certain medicines used for brain disorders (Phenytoin).
- If you are not sure about which are these medicines, tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements and herbal preparations you are currently taking to avoid interactions.
