Medical Description
Lactihep syrup is primarily used to treat constipation. Its active ingredient is lactulose. Lactulose is a synthetic sugar that is not absorbed in the small intestine but is fermented by bacteria in the colon. This fermentation process softens the stool, increases the frequency of bowel movements and relieves constipation.
Lactihep syrup may take a few days to take effect. It is generally safe to use and may cause minor side effects such as bloating, gas and abdominal discomfort. However, it is critical to seek advice and dosage instructions from a healthcare professional.

Quick Tips
- Lactihep is a medicine that is used to treat constipation. It contains lactulose which softens the stool and makes it easier to pass by drawing water into the bowel. This medicine is not absorbed by the body and cannot be digested. Instead, it is transported to the colon where it helps to keep water in the colon by breaking down into acids. This makes the colon bigger and stimulates bowel movement. It can also be used in high doses to prevent and treat brain problems caused by liver diseases.
- Always follow your doctor's instructions when taking Lactihep and let them know if you are taking any other medicines or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The most common side effects include mild abdominal pain, gas, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and increased levels of sodium in the blood.
