Hexab Emulsion is an anti-scabies medicine. Scabies is a skin condition that is caused by a mite. Hexab Emulsion contains a combination of cetrimide and gamma benzene hexachloride as active substances. It is used for the treatment of scabies only in patients who cannot tolerate other medicines or who have failed treatment with other approved medicines. Do not use this medicine to treat any other skin conditions other than that prescribed by your doctor. Hexab Emulsion is meant for external application only. Do not use more of the medicine or apply it more often than recommended. Particular care should be taken when using Hexab Emulsion in infants, children, the elderly, individuals with other skin conditions like atopic dermatitis or psoriasis or those individuals who weigh less than 50 kg....

Uses of Hexab Emulsion 100ml
Hexab Emulsion is used for the treatment of scabies (infestations of a mite called Sarcoptes scabiei).
Contraindications of Hexab Emulsion 100ml
- If you are allergic to cetrimide, gamma benzene hexachloride or any of the other ingredients of Hexab Emulsion.
- In body cavities like the mouth or ear or as an enema (a treatment to clean the bowel).
- If you are using Hexab Emulsion near the eyes and middle ear and surrounding areas.
- If you are using this medicine in premature infants.
- If you have crusted (Norwegian) scabies and other skin conditions (atopic dermatitis, psoriasis).
- If you have a known uncontrolled seizure/fits disorder.

Mode of Action of Hexab Emulsion 100ml
How Does It Work?
- Hexab Emulsion contains cetrimide and gamma benzene hexachloride as active substances.
- Cetrimide is an antiseptic medicine that kills or stops the growth of microorganisms that cause scabies.
- Gamma benzene hexachloride is an anti-parasitic medicine that gets directly absorbed into the parasites and their ova (mature female reproductive cell) and kills the scabies-causing parasite.
Directions for Use of Hexab Emulsion 100ml
- Use Hexab Emulsion as directed by your doctor.
- This medicine is for external use only.
- Apply it on a healthy skin surface free from cuts and wounds.
- Wash your hands before and after using this medicine unless your hands are the area to be treated.
- In case your eyes come in contact with this medicine, rinse your eyes with clean water immediately.
Interactions of Hexab Emulsion 100ml
Interactions with other medicines
- Since Hexab Emulsion is to be used externally on the skin, it is less likely to interact with other medicines.
- However, always consult your doctor if you are taking other medicines for treating other health conditions.
- Particular care should be taken if you are taking medicines like antipsychotics, antidepressants, theophylline (used to treat asthma/chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), cyclosporine, mycophenolate mofetil, tacrolimus (used to prevent organ rejection after a transplant), penicillins, imipenem, quinolone antibiotics (used for the treatment of bacterial infections), chloroquine (used to treat and prevent malaria), pyrimethamine (used to treat toxoplasmosis), isoniazid (used for the treatment of tuberculosis), meperidine (used to treat pain), methocarbamol (used to relax muscles) and centrally active anticholinesterases....
- Radiographic contrast agents when used with Hexab Emulsion may increase the chance of seizures/fits.
Storage and disposal of Hexab Emulsion 100ml
- Store Hexab Emulsion at 20°C - 25°C.
- Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
Dosage of Hexab Emulsion 100ml
Overdose
As Hexab Emulsion is meant for external application, cases of overdose are unlikely. However, upon accidental ingestion, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital. If you have applied extra quantities of it, wipe out the excess of the medicine with tissue or cotton....
Missed a Dose
If you have missed applying Hexab Emulsion, apply it as soon as possible. If it's time for your next application, then skip the missed application and continue with your regular application schedule. Do not over-apply this medicine to compensate for the missed application....
