Corns and calluses are thick, rough areas of skin which are hardened or raised like a bump. Both corns and calluses are formed on the skin of feet or palms as a protective measure from friction. Corns are smaller in size and are usually a round patch of rough skin. These are found on areas like sides of toes which do not bear weight. They might be painful when pressed. At the same time, calluses are usually found on the soles of the feet, palms and knees. They are usually larger and they are not painful.

Corns and calluses are caused by uncomfortable footwear or using excessive tools or instruments with hands and feetThey can be avoided by implementing footcare routines such as using a pumice stone to scrub the dry skin regularlyChoosing the footwear that fits well and wearing socks to avoid the friction caused by shoesUsing appropriate hand and foot protection while using instruments and tools

Once the corn cap is removed moisturize your feet with some moisturizer. Regularly using an effective moisturizer will strengthen your skin barrier and reduce the chance of corns reforming.
