Medical Description

Gemer 0.5mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines, Glimepiride and Metformin, which are used to treat type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is a condition in which your body does not make enough insulin or the insulin it does make does not work properly. Insulin is a hormone that helps your body use glucose (sugar) for energy.

Gemer 0.5mg Tablet is used when diet and exercise alone are not enough to control your blood sugar levels. It is important to follow your doctor's advice on diet and exercise while taking Gemer 0.5mg Tablet. Glycomet Gp 0.5 tablet, Gluconorm G 0.5 tablet, Zoryl M 0.5 tablet, Glimisave M 0.5 tablet, Semi Amaryl M tablet, Gepride M 0.5 tablet and Geminor M tablet also contains Glimepiride and Metformin as their main ingredients.

Gemer 0.5mg Tablet is not suitable for everyone. You should not take it if you have type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe liver or kidney disease or acute heart problems. You should also not take it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

The most common side effects of taking Gemer 0.5mg Tablet are taste disturbance, nausea, diarrhoea, stomachache and vomiting. These side effects are usually mild and go away on their own. If any of the side effects worsen, contact your doctor.

Gemer Tablet is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus; when diet, exercise and Glimepiride or Metformin alone is not able to control the blood sugar levels adequately.

Contraindications of GEMER 0.5MG STRIP OF 10 TABLETS

  • If you are allergic to metformin, glimepiride or any of the ingredient of Gemer Tablet.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you have serious kidney failure or liver failure.
  • If you have any metabolic acidosis (too much acid in the body fluids) like lactic acidosis, diabetic ketoacidosis or diabetic pre-coma.
  • If you have dehydration, severe infections, shock and injections containing iodine.
  • If you have had heart or lung failure, the recent incidence of heart attack and shock.
  • If you are an alcoholic.

How Does It Work?

  • Gemer Tablet is known to control blood sugar to a greater extent than metformin or glimepiride alone Glimiperide lowers the blood sugar level increasing release of insulin hormone from the pancreas.
  • Insulin moves sugar (glucose) from the blood into the cells.
  • Metformin decreases the absorption in the intestine and production of sugar by the liver.
