Fortum 1gm Injection contains Ceftazidime which is an antibiotic medicine. It works by inhibiting the cell wall synthesis of bacteria, absence of cell wall will result in death of bacteria. Fortum 1g
m Injection is used for treating bacterial infections of the urinary tract, respiratory tract, and skin. It is also used to treat infection of meninges which is an outer cover of the brain and spinal cord. This medicine will be given as an injection by doctor or nurse, do not self inject as this may be harmful for you.

Uses of Fortum 1 GM
- For the treatment of various types of bacterial infections such as infections of the urinary tract, respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract and skin.
- Treatment of Meningitis. (inflammation of meninges that cover the brain and spinal cord)
Contraindications of Fortum 1 GM
- If you are allergic to this medicine or any other cephalosporins
- If you have a history of a severe allergic reaction to any other antibiotics like penicillins
Side effects of Fortum 1 GM
- Blood disorder like decrease in blood count, excessive platelets in the blood
- Swelling in veins
- Diarrhoea
- Increased liver enzymes
- Urge to scratch, rashes
- Pain and swelling at the site of injection

Other General Warnings
- You have a history of allergy to penicillins or any medicines, as much caution is required in such patients.
- You experience any allergic reaction due to the use of this medicine, because the doctor may discontinue the medicine quickly
- You are suffering from diarrhoea due to this medicine, a doctor may discontinue the treatment and switch to alternate medicine
- You may develop a kidney problem
- Prolonged use of this medicine may lead to overgrowth of other organisms, which may require immediate termination of therapy. And patient needs to be re-evaluated again.

- Concomitant use of antibiotics like chloramphenicol, gentamycin, tobramycin and water pills like furosemide can cause adverse effects on kidney and gut flora or digestive tract
- Efficacy of oral contraceptives also get reduced while treatment with Fortum 1gm Injection

- Store Fortum 1gm Injection below 25°C
- Try to keep it out of the reach of children
Dosage of Fortum 1 GM
Overdose
- Fortum 1gm Injection will be given by your doctor or nurse. Therefore, it is less likely to receive more or less of this medicine.
- However, if you experience brain disease, fits or coma, kidney problems, etc. immediately after taking this injection, inform your doctor as soon as possible.
Missed a Dose
- You will be monitored by your doctor or nurse on when the Fortum 1gm Injection should be given to you.
- It is unlikely that the dose will be missed. However, if you think your doctor or nurse might have missed a dose, inform them.
