Fortum 1 GM Description

Fortum 1gm Injection contains Ceftazidime which is an antibiotic medicine. It works by inhibiting the cell wall synthesis of bacteria, absence of cell wall will result in death of bacteria. Fortum 1g

m Injection is used for treating bacterial infections of the urinary tract, respiratory tract, and skin. It is also used to treat infection of meninges which is an outer cover of the brain and spinal cord. This medicine will be given as an injection by doctor or nurse, do not self inject as this may be harmful for you.

Uses of Fortum 1 GM

For the treatment of various types of bacterial infections such as infections of the urinary tract, respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract and skin.
Treatment of Meningitis. (inflammation of meninges that cover the brain and spinal cord)

Contraindications of Fortum 1 GM

If you are allergic to this medicine or any other cephalosporins
If you have a history of a severe allergic reaction to any other antibiotics like penicillins

Side effects of Fortum 1 GM

Blood disorder like decrease in blood count, excessive platelets in the blood
Swelling in veins
Diarrhoea
Increased liver enzymes
Urge to scratch, rashes
Pain and swelling at the site of injection

Pregnancy

Can I take Fortum 1gm Injection during pregnancy?

There is limited information on the use of this medicine in pregnancy. Hence it is recommended not to use the same unless prescribed by your doctor.

Breast Feeding

Can I take Fortum 1gm Injection while breastfeeding?

It passes into the breastmilk in a small amount. So it is safe to breastfeed during the treatment, as it does not affect the breastfed baby. However, the doctor may ask you to monitor symptom like diarrhoea in beastfed baby.

Driving

Can I drive if I have taken Fortum 1gm Injection?

This medicine may affect your ability to drive or operate machines. Do not drive or operate machines if you experience dizziness and drowsiness.

Alcohol

Can I consume alcohol with Fortum 1gm Injection?

Although there is no known interaction with alcohol along with this medicine. So it is important to consult your physician if you have a habit of regular drinking.

Overdose

Fortum 1gm Injection will be given by your doctor or nurse. Therefore, it is less likely to receive more or less of this medicine.
