Description
Emsidon tablet is used to manage psychotic disorders like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Managing depressive episodes associated with bipolar disorder, alone or with other medications, is one of
the uses of the Emsidon tablet. These psychiatric conditions change the person's ability to think, feel, and behave. It can be used in children over the age of 10. The Emsidon tablet Tablet has Lurasidone as a single active ingredient. It belongs to a class of atypical antipsychotics. The mode of action of the Emsidon tablet is by stabilising the levels of specific chemical messengers, which help the mood and lower the overactivity in the brain. Follow your doctor's direction for the use of Luraken tablets. This medicine may cause death in elderly patients with dementia associated with psychotic disorders. It can also induce suicidal thoughts in young adults. Try not to suddenly stop using the Emsidon tablet, as it can cause withdrawal symptoms like irritation, vomiting, nausea, etc.

Uses
- As per CDSCO or USFDA, the Emsidon tablet is an atypical antipsychotic indicated for
- Schizophrenia (controls both positive and negative symptoms like hallucination, delusions, lack of pleasure, memory problems, cognitive problems, etc.)
- Depression associated with Bipolar Disorder (bipolar depression) is monotherapy and adjunctive therapy with lithium or valproate
Contraindications
- If you are allergic to the lurasidone or any other component of the Emsidon Tablet.
- If you are an older patient diagnosed with dementia-related psychosis. There is a high risk of stroke and even death.
- If you are under treatment with other antipsychotics.
- If you are diagnosed with neuroleptic malignant syndrome (a neuromuscular disorder).
- If you have tardive dyskinesia (sudden movements).
- If you have a history of diabetes with uncontrolled glucose levels and high cholesterol levels.
- If you had a history of stroke.
- If the child or adolescent has changes in blood pressure.
- If you have a history of any seizure disorder.
- If you have hyperprolactinemia (high prolactin levels).
- If you get a low white blood cell count in blood tests.
- If you are taking the treatment for Parkinson's disease or dementia with Lewy body.
- If you were diagnosed with an adrenal gland tumour, this medicine could cause life-threatening high blood pressure.
- If you have cataracts, it worsens in patients with long term treatment.

Directions for Use
- Take Emsidon tablets just as the doctor prescribed to you.
- Do not change the dose of the Emsidon tablet, even if you do not see its result.
- Do not break this tablet or chew it, and take the whole pill.
- It is better to not use it with other medications without informing your doctor.
- Do not use Emsidon medicine if its packaging has been already opened.
- Do not suddenly stop taking the Emsidon tablet, as it can cause adverse effects from withdrawal.
- You can take Emsidon medicine with or without food.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Consult your doctor if you take the following medication while using Emsidon tablets, as they are not recommended to take them together. All these interactions can lead to severe side effects.
- Carbamazepine decreases the levels of Emsidon tablets.
- Antivirals (ritonavir) and Antibiotics (Rifampin and clarithromycin) may slow down how quickly the liver processes Emsidon tablets.
- Antifungals (Ketoconazole, voriconazole) increase the levels of these tablets.
- Mibefradil also increases the levels of Emsidon tablets.
- Anti-seizure medication (Phenytoin) lowers the effectiveness of Emsidon tablets.
- Herbal medications (St. John's wort) may cause serotonin syndrome, which causes life-threatening side effects and even death due to high serotonin levels in the blood.
- Many other medications can interact with Emsidon tablets, such as other antipsychotics, antidepressants, sedatives, antihistamines, etc. They can change the effectiveness of each other. Dosage should be carefully monitored....
Interactions with food items
- Avoid taking grapefruit juice or fruit. Emsidon Tablet interacts with it and possibly increases its blood levels.
- Do not take herbal medicine and St John’s wort. It increases serotonin levels, leading to a severe condition called serotonin toxicity.
