Emotrip is a prescription based medicine used for treating depression associated with anxiety. It is a combination medicine that contains Amitriptyline which acts by increasing the concentration of s
erotonin between nerve cells (a neurotransmitter or brain chemical whose levels are found to be decreased in depression), and Chlordiazepoxide acts by suppressing anxiety associated with depression. This tablet can be addictive and may cause physical dependence. Therefore, it is recommended not to exceed your dose or take it more often than required.

- You should avoid taking this tablet if

- You are allergic to either Amitriptyline or Chlordiazepoxide.
- You have glaucoma.
- You have difficulty in breathing.
- You have liver impairment.
- You have low blood sodium.
- You have sexual dysfunction.

How Does It Work?
Directions for Use of Emotrip 12.5mg Tablets
- Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully and consult a healthcare professional if you face any difficulty following instructions.
- Emotrip is available as a tablet to be swallowed.
- If possible, take the tablet at night to avoid daytime sedation.
- Take Emotrip every day at the same time.
- This tablet should be taken exactly as prescribed.
- Do not exceed your dose unless specified.
- Do not stop this tablet suddenly.
Interactions of Emotrip 12.5mg Tablets
Interactions with other medicines
- Emotrip tablets may interact with the following medications; therefore, you must inform your consulting physician about any medications you are on:
- Antidepressants such as Selegiline, Phenelzine or Rasagiline as it may cause very high fever, severe fits and in some cases even death.
- Strong pain killers like Tramadol, Fentanyl and Methadone as it may cause difficulty in breathing.
- Medicines used to treat heartburn, such as Cisapride may cause disturbances in the electrical functions of the heart and cause arrhythmia when co-administered with Emotrip.
- Anti-allergic medicine like Azelastine can increase the levels of Emotrip in blood.
- Other antidepressants such as Fluoxetine and Sertraline can increase the levels of Emotrip in blood.
Interactions with food items
- You can continue with your regular diet unless instructed otherwise.
