Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

Depsonil Dz is a combination medicine that contains Imipramine-25mg and Diazepam-2mg as an active ingredient. Imipramine is an antidepressant that works by inhibiting the reuptake (reabsorption) of chemical messengers like norepinephrine and serotonin in the brain. By preventing their reuptake, it balances the amount of chemical messengers and the effects of these messengers last longer in the brain. Thus, helping in regulating mood swings and managing depression. Diazepam (a benzodiazepine) increases the activity of Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a natural chemical messenger in the brain. It causes suppression of the excessive and abnormal electrical activity of the nerve cells in the brain and produces a feeling of relaxation calmness and induces sleep.
