Precautions and Warnings

Pregnancy

Pregnancy

This medicine should only be used if clearly needed during pregnancy. Consult your doctor before using it if you are pregnant, as the absorbed amount is minimal but caution is recommended.

Breast Feeding

Breast Feeding

This medicine is unlikely to pass into breast milk in significant amounts when applied to the eye. However, consult your doctor before using if you are breastfeeding.

Driving

Driving

This medicine may cause blurred vision. Be careful while driving or operating machinery until your vision clears. Avoid driving immediately after application if you experience blurred vision.

Alcohol

Alcohol

There is no known interaction with alcohol. However, consult your doctor if you have concerns.

Directions for Use

Tilt your head back and pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket. Squeeze the prescribed number of drops into the pocket. Close your eyes for 2 to 3 minutes to allow the medicine to be absorbed. Wipe away excess liquid with a clean tissue. Wash your hands after application. Do not touch the tip of the container to prevent contamination. Wait at least 5 to 10 minutes before applying another medicine in the same eye to avoid dilution.

Storage and disposal

Store this medicine at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep the bottle tightly closed. Use within 4 weeks of opening the bottle. Do not use after the expiry date. Discard safely according to local regulations.

Quick Tips

  • Your doctor has prescribed this medicine to treat a fungal infection of the eye.
  • Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better.
  • A stinging sensation may occur for 1 to 2 minutes after instillation. Notify your doctor if it persists longer.
  • Do not wear soft contact lenses while using this medicine. Remove them before applying the drops and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting.
  • Inform your doctor if the infection has not cleared up after 4 weeks of treatment.

Dosage

Overdose

Excessive application or accidental ingestion may cause harm. If accidentally ingested, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital. If applied in excess, flush the eye with water or normal saline solution.

Missed a Dose

If you missed a dose of medicine, apply it as soon as you remember. If it's time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not apply extra eye drop to compensate for the missed dose.

How does this medicine work?

Fluconazole kills fungi by inhibiting the production of ergosterol in fungal cell membranes. Without ergosterol, the fungal cell membrane becomes weak and ruptures, leading to the death of the fungus and resolution of the infection.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some eye medicines can interact with this eye drop. Consult your doctor before using this medicine if you are taking other eye medications. If you are using other eye drops, apply them separately, waiting at least 5 to 10 minutes between applications.

Interactions with food items

There are no significant interactions with food as this is a topical eye medicine.
