Coliwin Tablets Description

Coliwin Tab is used in the treatment of various abdominal conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome (a disorder that affects the intestine where you can experience symptoms such as bloating, gas, c

ramps, loose stools and constipation), peptic ulcers (sores in the lining of your stomach) and enterocolitis (inflammation of the intestine). It is a combination of two medicines, chlordiazepoxide and clidinium. Coliwin Tab may be addictive for some and can cause physical dependence. It is therefore recommended to not exceed the recommended dosage or take it more often than required. Additionally, alcohol should be avoided during the course of the Coliwin Tablet. Do not stop taking Coliwin Tablet suddenly, and if you wish to discontinue this tablet, you should consult your physician at the earliest. Do not use this Coliwin tablet for a condition for which it is not prescribed. You may experience certain side effects such as lethargy, dry mouth, sexual dysfunction, constipation, difficulty in passing urine, restlessness and confusion.

Interactions with other medicines

  • Coliwin Tablets may interact with the following medications; therefore, it is critical that you inform your consulting physician about any medications and supplements you are currently taking:
  • Taking strong painkillers like tramadol, fentanyl, and methadone, with Coliwin Tabs can lead to severe sedation, difficulty in breathing and in some cases, even death.
  • Taking Coliwin Tabs with antidepressants such as selegiline, phenelzine or rasagiline may cause very high fever, severe fits, palpitations and muscle aches.
  • Taking antipsychotics like trifluoperazine, thioridazine, and chlorpromazine can worsen the side effects of Coliwin like dry mouth, confusion, restlessness, and irritability.
  • The clinical effects of anti-glaucoma medicines like timolol and latanoprost can be nullified by Coliwin.
  • Avoid taking antacids as this can decrease the absorption of Coliwin Tablet from the stomach.

  • While taking Coliwin, you should avoid the following foods to prevent gastric distress that may worsen the condition:
  • Avoid eating spicy food.
  • Avoid eating non-vegetarian food.
  • Avoid milk products like milk, ice cream, yoghurt if you experience bloating and abdominal discomfort after consuming these products.
  • Avoid a high fibre diet if you experience loose motions.
