Telma 40 Tablet

• If you are allergic to telmisartan or any of the ingredients in the Telma 40 tablet,
• If you are pregnant or may be pregnant, treatment should be discontinued if pregnancy is detected.
• If you have an obstruction or blockage in your bile duct (which carries bile from the liver to the gallbladder).
• If you have severe liver disease, liver failure, or kidney function problems.
• If you have diabetes or kidney impairment and you are treated with Aliskiren (to treat high blood pressure).

• Flu-like symptoms

Other General Warnings

• You have kidney disease or have had a kidney transplant or liver disease.
• You are known to have narrowing or blockage of the blood vessels of one or both kidneys.
• You are having diarrhoea vomiting as this can cause dehydration and lead to low blood pressure. Consume plenty of water and fluids.
• You suffer from water and salt retention and an imbalance of various blood minerals (raised aldosterone levels).
• You have an increased level of potassium in your blood.
• You have diabetes, have a low blood pressure problem (hypotension) or have any heart disorder.
• You are taking blood pressure-lowering medicines such as ramipril or lisinopril.

• Store in the original packaging, protected from sunlight and moisture
• Keep it out of the sight and reach of children and pets.

• Take Telma 40 at the same time every day to maintain a steady level of medicine in your blood. Always follow the exact dosage your doctor prescribed, and never skip a dose.
• Reduce your salt and unhealthy fat intake, as these directly contribute to high blood pressure. Focus on a heart-healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and avoid processed or packaged foods.
• Drink plenty of water throughout the day, but avoid consuming large amounts all at once. Limit alcohol intake, as it can interfere with blood pressure regulation and increase the risk of dizziness.
• Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise daily, such as brisk walking or cycling. Maintaining a healthy weight reduces the overall workload on your heart.
• If you feel dizzy, especially when starting the medication, stand up slowly from a sitting or lying position to prevent a sudden drop in blood pressure.
• Avoid smoking entirely, as it causes immediate and long-term damage to your blood vessels. Additionally, limit caffeine from coffee or energy drinks, which can cause temporary blood pressure spikes.
• Support your cardiovascular health by getting 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night and by practicing relaxation techniques such as deep breathing or meditation to manage stress.
• Keep a regular log of your home blood pressure readings to share with your doctor. If you experience severe diarrhea or vomiting, increase your fluid intake (such as ORS) to prevent dehydration and dangerously low blood pressure.
• Tell your doctor straight away if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy. This class of blood pressure medicine can seriously harm a developing baby and is stopped before or as soon as pregnancy is confirmed.
• Seek urgent help for swelling of the lips, tongue or throat, or difficulty breathing or swallowing. This is rare but needs immediate treatment.
• Tell your doctor if you develop vomiting or diarrhoea, or become dehydrated in hot weather. Fluid loss from this medicine can drop your blood pressure and strain the kidneys, and the dose may need pausing.
• Tell your doctor if you take an anti-inflammatory painkiller such as ibuprofen or diclofenac, including anything bought without a prescription, as these blunt the effect and can affect the kidneys together.
