Citapure Plus Tablet is a prescription medication commonly used in the treatment of various anxiety and mood disorders. It is a combination of two medicines: clonazepam and escitalopram. Clonazepam i
s a tranquilliser(medicines that reduce anxiety and fear). Escitalopram is an antidepressant, and it helps in stabilising mood. Anxiety is a mood disorder that affects how you feel. It can sometimes be accompanied by depression. Citapure Plus Tablets help stabilise the mood by reducing the excess activity of nerves in the brain. It can also produce a calming and sedation effect. The dose and duration of Citapure Plus Tablet should be carefully monitored in everyone, especially in older patients and patients with liver and kidney disorders. The dose should also be monitored because it can cause dependency if you use it for a long duration. Uses of Citapure Plus Tablet
- As per CDSCO, Citapure Plus Tablet is used for,
- Treatment of the symptoms of comorbid depression (depression associated with other disorders), anxiety disorder, panic disorder and other mood disorders.
Contraindications of Citapure Plus Tablet
- If you are allergic to any of the components of Citapure Plus Tablet.
- If you have a history of alcohol or medicine addiction, mental health disorder, depression, etc.
- If you are pregnant.
- If you are breastfeeding.
- If you are already using other anti-anxiety or sedatives, as they can interfere, they can cause adverse reactions.
- If you are driving, it can impair your driving ability.
- If you have acute angle glaucoma.
- If you have liver disease.
- If you have a seizure disorder and are on antiepileptic (anti-seizure) medication.

Mode of Action of Citapure Plus Tablet
How Does It Work?
The Citapure Plus Tablet has clonazepam and escitalopram. Clonazepam functions by increasing the action of GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid), which is a chemical messenger in the brain. GABA lowers the abnormal or excessive activity of nerve cells in the brain. It is responsible for the sedation properties of this medicine. However, clonazepam does not affect the levels of GABA in the brain.
Escitalopram increases serotonin levels in the brain by blocking its reuptake by nerve cells. Serotonin is a hormone responsible for stabilising the mood, causing good feelings, etc. It can also help in other functions like sleeping, eating, and digestion....
Directions for Use of Citapure Plus Tablet
- Take the Citapure Plus Tablet in the exact dosage and at the same time every day.
- Do not exceed the dosage, even if you cannot notice its effects.
- Take Citapure Tablet as a whole with a glass of water.
- Do not break or chew it.
- Do not take this with other medications without informing your doctor.
- Do not suddenly stop taking Citapure medication, as it can have adverse effects.
Interactions of Citapure Plus Tablet
Interactions with other medicines
- If you are using other anti-anxiety and mood disorder medications such as linezolid, moclobemide, selegiline, etc., combined with the Citapure Plus tablet, they can cause severe reactions.
- Do not take other medicines that cause drowsiness, such as allergy medicine, cold or cough medicine, opiates or narcotic pain relievers with Citapure Plus Tablets. It can increase the side effects and cause extreme drowsiness....
- If you are already using antiepileptic medicines for seizure disorders, inform your doctor as it can increase the side effects of this medication.

Missed a Dose
If you have missed a dose of Citapure Plus Tablet, take it as soon as you recall.
