• Known or suspected pregnancy
• History of hypersensitivity (allergic reaction) to megestrol acetate or any other ingredient in this product.

• Diarrhoea
• Nausea
• Flatulence (gas)
• Vomiting
• Headache

• Reduced sexual desire or impotence
• Skin rash
• Raised blood pressure
• Weakness or unusual tiredness (asthenia)
• Difficulty sleeping (insomnia)
• Low red blood cell count (anaemia)
• Fever
• Indigestion
• Raised blood sugar
• Increased urinary frequency
• General aches or pain

• Adrenal insufficiency (low cortisol), particularly after prolonged treatment or abrupt discontinuation
• Cushing's syndrome (excess glucocorticoid activity): with development of features like rounding of the face, weight gain around the trunk, thinning skin, or muscle weakness with long-term use.
• Blood clots (thromboembolism)
• New or worsening diabetes

Other General Warnings

• You have a history of blood clots (thromboembolic disease)
• You have diabetes, or a family history of diabetes
• You have a history of adrenal or pituitary gland problems
• You are planning surgery or have a serious infection
• You have reduced kidney or liver function
• You develop symptoms of adrenal insufficiency (ongoing tiredness, weak muscles, not wanting to eat, losing weight without trying, and belly pain ), particularly during illness or after stopping prolonged treatment.

• Caxfila Os suspension is usually taken as directed by your doctor and can generally be taken without regard to meals.
• This is an oral suspension (liquid); shake the bottle well before every use so the dose is evenly mixed.
• Always use the measuring device supplied with the medicine rather than a regular spoon to ensure you get the correct amount.
• Do not change your dose or stop the medicine on your own; always consult your doctor first.

• Store at room temperature and protect it from heat.
• Dispose of any unused or expired medicine according to your local pharmacist's or municipal guidelines.
• Keep out of the reach and sight of children and pets at all times.

• Shake the bottle well before every dose and use the measuring device provided. Do not use a regular spoon.
• Watch for signs of low cortisol (dizziness, nausea, weakness, low blood pressure), especially during illness or after stopping treatment, and seek prompt medical care if these occur.
• Report any leg swelling/pain or sudden chest pain/breathlessness immediately.
• Use effective contraception if you could become pregnant, as advised by your doctor.
• Tell your doctor about all other medicines you take, including antiretroviral therapy, so they can check for interactions.
• Look out for increased thirst, urination, or blood sugar changes, particularly if you have or are at risk of diabetes.
• Never stop or change your dose without first consulting your doctor.

Missed a Dose

• If you miss a dose, contact your doctor for the next steps.
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Overdose

• No specific antidote is available.
• If you or someone else has taken more than the prescribed dose or if an overdose is suspected, contact your doctor and seek urgent medical help.

Interactions with other medicines

• Caxfila Os suspension can reduce indinavir blood levels.
• Always tell your doctor about all prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, supplements, and herbal products you are using, including antiretroviral therapy for HIV/AIDS, so they can check for any relevant interactions.
