Betnovate-G Cream is a combination medicine containing Gentamicin, Betamethasone, Miconazole and Chlorocresol as its active ingredients. It helps to relieve pain, redness, swelling and itching of the
skin that has been worsened by bacterial and/or fungal infection. Betnovate-G cream is meant only for external application and should be applied exactly as recommended by your doctor. You may experience some application site reactions as side effects. However, they normally fade away with time. Please report to your doctor if you notice the side effects persist or worsen.

Contraindications of Betnovate G Cream 30gm
- If you are known to be allergic to Gentamicin, Betamethasone, Miconazole, Chlorocresol or any of the other components of Betnovate G cream.
- If you develop an allergy after starting treatment with this cream.
- If your child is below the age of 2 years.
- If you have pimples, itching without redness of the skin, itching in private parts.
- If you have some viral, bacterial or fungal infections of the skin.
- If you have infections of the nose, outer ear, around your mouth, back or private parts.
- Do not use Betnovate G cream for conditions other than that prescribed by the doctor.

Pregnancy
Breast Feeding
- Betnovate-G cream is not recommended for use while breastfeeding as it is unknown if its components pass into breastmilk. Consult your doctor before using this medicine.
- If prescribed, it should not be applied to the breast or areas near the breast of breastfeeding mother as there can be chances of ingestion of this by a breastfed infant. Avoid using it on large areas of skin or for a prolonged period....

Other General Warnings
- You have a skin infection.
- Your symptoms do not improve within 7 days of treatment.
- You had a previous allergic reaction with any other steroid.
- You develop irritation or superinfection after using Betnovate-G cream.
- You are applying the cream under an airtight dressing, eyes, mouth, open wounds, face or on a large surface area.
- Use with this cream to be limited to 5 days in children or when applied on the face.
- This cream should not be applied to eyes, mouth, open wounds or face. In case of such an exposure, you should wash the affected part with lots of water.
- Betnovate G cream should not be used in large quantities or on large areas for a long time.
Mode of Action of Betnovate G Cream 30gm
How Does It Work?
- Betnovate G cream works by the combined action of its constituents.
- Betamethasone is a topical steroid that attaches to steroid receptors present on cells, reducing inflammation, swelling and redness of the skin.
- Miconazole, an antifungal medicine, acts on covering the fungal cell, making them porous due to which the contents inside the fungus leak out, this, in turn, damages the fungus and kills it.
- Gentamicin is an antibiotic that attaches to the genetic material of bacteria, making it incapable of producing substances required for survival, ultimately killing the bacteria.
- Chlorocresol also helps in killing the bacteria and prevents microbial growth.
Directions for Use of Betnovate G Cream 30gm
- Betnovate G cream is meant for external use only.
- Use the cream as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
- Read the instructions on the label or leaflet before use.
- Clean and dry the infected area well.
- Apply it on healthy skin surface, free from cuts and wounds.
- Wash your hands before and after using this medicine unless your hands are the area to be treated.
- In case your eyes come in contact with this medicine, rinse your eyes with clean water immediately.
- The treatment with Betnovate G cream should not be continued for more than seven days without medical supervision. If the condition worsens or does not improve within seven days, you should consult your treating physician....

Interactions with other medicines
- Since Betnovate G cream is to be applied to the skin, it is less likely to interact with other medicines. However, it is not advisable to use any other cream or ointment at the affected site if this cream is applied. - There is limited information available on the interaction of this combination with other medicines. However, Betnovate G cream contains Miconazole, Gentamicin, Chlorocresol & Betamethasone, any interactions are seen with these components when used alone may occur with this combination....
- Medicines like ritonavir (used to treat AIDS) and itraconazole (used to treat fungal infections) should be used with caution along with Betnovate-G cream.

- Store Betnovate G cream in the original container in a clean and dry place, protected from moisture, sunlight and heat.
- Do not freeze this medicine.
- Keep the medicine away from children and pets.
- Do not use expired or damaged medicines.
Dosage of Betnovate G Cream 30gm
Overdose
- As Betnovate-G cream is meant for external application, cases of overdose are unlikely.
- In case of a chronic overdose, excess of Betnovate G cream will lead to steroid toxicity.
- The excessive use for the prolonged duration is not advised as it can be absorbed into the blood.
- However, upon accidental ingestion, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.
- If you have overapplied it, wipe out the excess medicine with tissue or cotton.
