Becalm tablet is a medication used to treat panic attacks and anxiety. It helps relax the brain in depression by reducing imbalanced chemicals generated by neurons. Becalm tablet is an anti-anxiety medication. It works by preventing the release of stress-inducing hormones and lowering anxiety and concern. It can also aid persons who are uneasy, have concentration problems, irritability, insomnia, and those who are restless and sweat excessively. Becalm tablet also treats panic attacks, anxiety, and phobias. If the side effects of Becalm tablet become more severe, speak with your psychiatrist. Make sure you understand everything about the medicine from your psychiatrist before starting it. Also, tell your consultant doctor if you have any health issues, such as epilepsy, bronchial asthma, suicidal ideation, clinical depression, or a history of substance misuse.

  • You may experience suicidal thoughts and suicidal tendencies while using this medication. So in patients with depression, use Becalm tablet with caution, especially if the suicidal risk is present. Depressed patients treated with Becalm tablet may have also experienced mania symptoms.

Directions for Use

  • Follow the doctor's instructions when taking Becalm tablet.
  • At the beginning, a minimum dose is started. The dose is gradually increased over three to four days under your doctor's supervision.
  • The medicine is to be taken orally and should not be chewed or crushed in any way.

Becalm tablet is a triazole analogue that belongs to the 1,4-benzodiazepine class of medicines. It has anxiolytic, hypnotic, and anticonvulsant properties. The action of Becalm tablet is mediated by Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid (GABA). Like other benzodiazepines, it has a depressing CNS impact. It lowers the hyperactive brain cells and gives a calming effect.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

  • Cimetidine, Fluoxetine, Metoclopramide, Opioids, and Imipramine interact with Becalm tablet by increasing the serum level of alprazolam and leads to toxicity.
  • Desipramine, Azole antifungal agents, Cetirizine, Antihypertensives interact with Becalm tablet by increasing the toxicity of alprazolam.

Interactions with food items

  • Avoid grapefruit juice, tea, or coffee to avoid adverse effects. As coffee stimulates the brain, whereas Becalm tablet relaxes it. So, drinking too much coffee may reduce the ability of this medicine to calm brain activity.
