Medical Description

Becalm 0.25mg Tab belongs to a class of "anxiolytics" (anxiety-reducing) medicines called benzodiazepines (BZDs) that is mainly used to treat severe short-term anxiety and panic disorders that are not accompanied by phobias. Anxiety is a mental health disorder associated with excessive fear and stress. Panic disorder is a type of anxiety disorder that causes an overwhelming feeling of fear even when there is no real danger and is accompanied by heart palpitations. Becalm 0.25mg Tab contains alprazolam as its active ingredient. Becalm 0.25mg Tab relieves anxiety/panic by lowering excessive brain activity and increasing GABA activity (gamma-aminobutyric acid, a chemical messenger in the brain that works as a natural nerve-calming agent). Hence, Becalm 0.25mg Tab relaxes the body and soothes the mind. Side effects associated with Becalm 0.25mg Tab include depression, drowsiness, sleepiness, nausea, sedation, weight gain, etc. These are usually not serious and go away as your body adapts to the medication. If they persist or cause you concern, speak with your doctor. Normally, these side-effects improve with the discontinuation of treatment. However, do not abruptly stop taking Becalm 0.25mg Tab. Your doctor may gradually taper the dose before stopping the treatment. Abruptly stopping the medicine may lead to withdrawal symptoms such as headache, dizziness, insomnia, etc. Becalm 0.25mg Tab should be used with caution in patients with seizures, schizophrenia, liver diseases, diabetes, heart diseases, sleep disorders, bleeding disorders, pregnant women, lactating women and those under the age of 18.
