Uses
- Aztonam Injection is used for the treatment of bacterial infections of the:
- • urinary tract,
- • lower respiratory tract,
- • skin,
- • soft tissue,
- • bone, joint,
- • intra-abdomen,
- • presence of bacteria in the blood,
- • septicemia,
- • gynaecological infections, and
- • gonorrhoea.
Contraindications
- If you are allergic to aztreonam or L-arginine or to any of the other ingredients of Aztonam Injection.
- If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.

Other General Warnings
- You have had an allergic reaction to any antibiotics in the past.
- You have diarrhoea or usually get diarrhoea when you take antibiotics.
- You have had problems with your stomach or intestines.
- You develop severe or prolonged or bloody diarrhoea during or after using Aztonam Injection.
- You have liver or kidney problems.
- You are taking medicines to prevent blood clots (anticoagulants).
- You have any blood disorders like low blood cells count.
- You have skin disorders like blistering of the skin.
- You get a positive result in a Coombs test.
- You experience fits/seizures.
- You are taking any other antibiotic.
- You experience symptoms of encephalopathy like unexplained confusion, altered mental function, seizure, or weakness.
Directions for Use
- Aztonam Injection will be given in the hospital by your doctor or nurse.
- Do not self-inject this medicine. Follow any aftercare instructions given by the doctor or nurse.
Storage and disposal
- Store Aztonam Injection below 25°C.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.

Interactions with other medicines
- Some medicines can affect the way Aztonam Injection works or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
- Tell your doctor about all medicines, supplements, or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
- The levels of Aztonam Injection in the body can be raised when taken along with medicines like probenecid (used for treating gout) and furosemide (used for the treatment of fluid accumulation).
- Particular care should be taken if you are taking medicines used to thin the blood.
