Enoxaparin
Molecule Description
Enoxaparin is used to thin your blood. It keeps your blood from forming clots.
Blood clots are dangerous because they can lead to severe blockages in your blood vessels; this can cause a heart attack.
Uses of Enoxaparin
- This medicine is used as a blood thinner to treat and prevent harmful blood clots
- It is used along with certain other medicines to avoid problems caused by heart attack or unstable chest pain
- It is also used to decrease the risk of recurring heart attack in certain patients
Contraindications of Enoxaparin
When should one not use Enoxaparin
- Have allergic reactions to Enoxaparin
- Have high blood pressure
- Have any major bleeding
- If in the recent past (last 100 days) if you had a decreased in your platelets (type of blood cells)
Side effects of Enoxaparin
Common side effects of this drug are:
- Bleeding (gum bleeds, nose bleeds, black or tarry stool, blood in cough and vomit)
- Skin rash
- Pain at injection site
- Numbness in your face, arms or legs
- Headache
- Increased liver enzyme
- Stomach pain
- Bruising
- Hair loss

How Does It Work?
This medicine acts as a blood thinner. It stops the existing blood clots from increasing in size and also prevents the formation of new clots in the blood.
