Description
Zocef 500 injection is used for the treatment of severe infections of the skin, ears, throat, respiratory tract, urinary tract, etc. It is an antibiotic containing Cefuroxime as its active ingredient
. This medicine will be given in the hospital by your doctor or nurse through an injection. Do not self-inject this medicine. You may experience some application site reactions as side effects while on treatment with Zocef 500 injection, but they normally fade away with time. Please report to your doctor if you notice the side effects persist or worsen.

Uses of Zocef 500 MG
Contraindications of Zocef 500 MG
- If you are allergic to cefuroxime or any of the other ingredients of Zocef 500 injection.
- If you have a history of a severe allergic reaction to penicillin, monobactams, carbapenems or other beta-Lactam antibiotics.
Side effects of Zocef 500 MG
- Injection site inflammation that forms clot or block in the vein
- Raised liver enzyme
- Reduced hemoglobin level

- Cefuroxime passes into breast milk in small quantities. Perceive if prescribed by your physician. Watch for diarrhoea and thrush in the breastfed baby.

- You develop white patches in your mouth.
- You have any pre-existing medical condition such as liver or kidney problem.
- You develop rash with blisters and peeling of the skin.
- You experience continuous diarrhoea. Immediately report to the doctor.
- You experience breathlessness, rashes, swelling of the face or mouth after taking Zocef 500 injection.

- Zocef 500 injection may interact with other medications and provide an altered response to the treatment. Please notify your doctor if you are undergoing any other treatments, over-the-counter medications (that you buy without a prescription) and herbal preparations. Also, you should inform your doctor if you have a planned surgery or vaccination scheduled....
- Especially if you are taking medicines for acidity as it can reduce the antibiotic action.
- Zocef 500 can alter the action of contraceptive pills. If you are taking the contraceptive pill while you are being treated with this medicine, you may also need to use an additional physical contraceptive measure....
- Be cautious if you are taking Probenecid (used to treat gout) or blood thinner like Warfarin.
