Zocef 500 injection is used for the treatment of severe infections of the skin, ears, throat, respiratory tract, urinary tract, etc. It is an antibiotic containing Cefuroxime as its active ingredient

. This medicine will be given in the hospital by your doctor or nurse through an injection. Do not self-inject this medicine. You may experience some application site reactions as side effects while on treatment with Zocef 500 injection, but they normally fade away with time. Please report to your doctor if you notice the side effects persist or worsen.

Zocef 500 injection is used to treat the airway, lung, throat, skin, urinary tract and gynecological infection.

Contraindications of Zocef 500 MG

If you are allergic to cefuroxime or any of the other ingredients of Zocef 500 injection.
If you have a history of a severe allergic reaction to penicillin, monobactams, carbapenems or other beta-Lactam antibiotics.

Injection site inflammation that forms clot or block in the vein

Pregnancy

Can I take Zocef 500 injection during pregnancy?

Zocef 500 injection should not be used during pregnancy unless prescribed by the doctor, as there is limited information about its safety in human pregnancy.

Breast Feeding

Can I take Zocef 500 injection while breastfeeding?

Cefuroxime passes into breast milk in small quantities. Perceive if prescribed by your physician. Watch for diarrhoea and thrush in the breastfed baby.

Driving

Can I drive if I have consumed Zocef 500 injection?

This medicine does not affect your ability to drive or to use machinery, however if you experience side effects like dizziness, you should avoid driving or using machines.

Alcohol

Can I consume alcohol with Zocef 500 injection?

Although there is no known interaction with alcohol and Zocef 500 injection, it is essential to consult your physician if you have a habit of regular drinking.

Talk to your doctor if

You develop white patches in your mouth.
You have any pre-existing medical condition such as liver or kidney problem.
You develop rash with blisters and peeling of the skin.
You experience continuous diarrhoea. Immediately report to the doctor.
You experience breathlessness, rashes, swelling of the face or mouth after taking Zocef 500 injection.

How Does It Work?

Cefuroxime in Zocef 500 injection works by stopping bacterial cell wall synthesis. The absence of a bacterial cell wall results in the death of bacteria.
