Rosuvas 20 tablet is a lipid-lowering medication. It contains rosuvastatin as its active ingredient. Rosuvas 20 tablet acts by inhibiting the enzyme involved in the formation of cholesterol in your body. Thus, it decreases the levels of bad cholesterol (LDL) and increases good cholesterol levels (HDL).
You should preferably take this medicine at bedtime since cholesterol production or build-up takes place majorly at night when the body is in the resting phase. Take this medicine in the exact dose and duration as recommended by your doctor. Do not stop taking this medicine on your own.
It is important that you have a cholesterol-lowering diet while taking Rosuvas 20 tablets for adequate control of your blood cholesterol levels.
Uses
- Rosuvas 20 tablet is used for the treatment of high levels of cholesterol and triglyceride levels (such as fat in the blood).
- It is also used to reduce the risk of heart disease such as heart attack and prevent stroke.
Contraindications
- If you are allergic to rosuvastatin or any other ingredient of Rosuvas 20 tablet.
- If you have kidney or liver disease.
- If you or your family has a history of muscle disorder.
- If you are on any other cholesterol-lowering medicine.
- If you are taking immunosuppressant medicine such as cyclosporine used to treat arthritis.
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Interactions with other medicines
- Some medicines can affect the way Rosuvas 20 tablet works or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
- Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements, or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interactions.
- There is an increased risk of myopathy when this medicine is used with other lipid-lowering agents.
- Cyclosporin, warfarin, oral contraceptive pills, itraconazole, ketoconazole, erythromycin, clarithromycin, telithromycin, and HIV protease inhibitors may reduce the levels of this medicine.
- Particular care should be taken when using this medicine along with antacids like aluminum hydroxide and fusidic acid or within 7 days of stopping fusidic acid.
