Rifagut 550mg Tab is an antibiotic medication that is prescribed for the treatment of diarrhoea caused due to a bacterial infection. It is primarily used to treat diarrhoea caused due to Escherichia Coli (E. Coli).
Uses of Rifagut 550mg Tab
Rifagut 550mg Tab uses are for the treatment of hepatic encephalopathy (a condition in which the brain function gets impaired due to the damaged liver); traveller's diarrhoea (diarrhoea caused due to E. Coli.); and irritable bowel syndrome.
Contraindications of Rifagut 550mg Tab
- Diarrhoea with fever.
- Blockage in the bowel.
- Bloody diarrhoea.
- Diarrhoea caused due to factors other than bacteria, for example, a viral infection.

How Does It Work?
Rifagut 550mg Tab puts a stop to the bacterial infection by inhibiting the cell growth process in the cells. By doing so, the bacterial multiplication stops and the existing bacteria die. As Rifagut 550mg Tab passes into the intestines without getting absorbed in the bloodstream, it is primarily used to treat bacterial infections affecting the intestines.
Directions for Use of Rifagut 550mg Tab
The tablet is to be taken with a glass of water. The tablet is not supposed to be broken, crushed or chewed.
