Medical Description

eye drop is used to dilate (widen) the pupil of the eye for eye examination and treatment. It contains two active ingredients: phenylephrine to constrict blood vessels in the eye, and tropicamide to relax the eye muscles and dilate the pupil.

Contraindications

Directions for Use

Wash your hands thoroughly before use. Tilt your head back and pull down the lower eyelid to form a pocket. Place the prescribed number of drops into the eye as directed by your doctor. Close your eyes gently for 2-3 minutes after instilling the drops. Wipe away any excess with a clean tissue. Do not touch the dropper tip to your eye or any other surface to maintain sterility.

Storage and disposal

Store this medicine in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Keep it in the original bottle with the cap tightly closed. Keep out of reach of children. Use within the prescribed period after opening; typically discard 28 days after opening unless otherwise directed. Dispose of unused medicine according to local regulations.

Quick Tips

  • Your vision may be temporarily blurred after using these drops. Do not drive until your vision is clear.
  • Avoid touching or rubbing your eye after instilling the drops.
  • Remove contact lenses before using these drops and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them.
  • Protect your eyes from bright light by wearing sunglasses if you feel uncomfortable.
  • Report any persistent eye discomfort to your doctor.

If too much of this medicine is applied to the eye, rinse the eye immediately with plenty of water. If the medicine is accidentally swallowed, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you missed any dose of medicine, apply it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not apply a double amount to compensate for the missed dose.

How does this medicine work?

Tropicamide relaxes the muscles that control the lens and pupil in the eye, causing the pupil to dilate. Phenylephrine causes blood vessels in the eye to constrict, which helps reduce redness and improves visibility during eye examination.
