Mode of Action of Pronol 10 MG
How Does It Work?
Pronol tablet contains propranolol, a non-selective beta-blocker that lowers blood pressure by acting on the beta-adrenergic receptors and increasing vasodilation.
Directions for Use of Pronol 10 MG
- Take this medication in the dose and for the duration as advised by your doctor
- Do not chew, crush or break the tablet in half
- Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water
- Take it with or without food as advised by your doctor
Interactions of Pronol 10 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- Concomitant use of propranolol with warfarin can increase the concentration of warfarin in the body
- Bradycardia and postural hypotension is seen when propanolol is used with propafenone
- Propanolol can cause bradycardia and hypotension when administered with medications like ciprofloxacin, enoxamine, fluconazole, fluvoxamine, and ticlopidine
- Medications like phenytoin, montelukast, and rifampin can decrease the plasma levels of propranolol
- Cholestyramine can decrease the plasma levels of propranolol
- Propanolol can antagonize the effect of clonidine and can induce rebound hypertension
- Administration of propranolol with prazosin can cause hypotension and syncope
- The sensitivity of dobutamine can be reduced when administered with propranolol
- Propanolol can cause worsening of hypotensive effects when used with MAO inhibitors or tricyclic antidepressants
Other general Interactions
Do not use this medication if you suffer from recurrent high blood sugar levels. Avoid this medication if you are suffering from asthma or COPD.
