Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

Patroxta Plus is a combination of two medicines containing Paroxetine (12.5 mg) and Clonazepam (0.5 mg). Paroxetine is an antidepressant medicine that belongs to the Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) class of medication. It works by preventing the reabsorption of serotonin by the nerve cells, resulting in an increased serotonin level in the brain. High serotonin levels directly improve mood and relieve anxiety and depression symptoms. Clonazepam belongs to the class of benzodiazepine medicines. It works by increasing the action of a chemical messenger in the brain known as GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid). This inhibitory neurotransmitter reduces nerve cells' abnormal or excessive activity in the brain, which is responsible for its sedation properties.
