Uses
- As per CDSCO and USFDA, Patroxta Plus is used for the following:
- Treatment of depression
- Treatment of anxiety disorder
- Treatment of the panic disorder
- Treatment for Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
Contraindications
- It is contraindicated in the following cases:
- If you are allergic to any components of Patroxta Plus, i.e. Paroxetine and Clonazepam
- If you are taking antidepressant-like Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs)
- If you are using other anti-anxiety or sedative medicines and antipsychotic medications
- If you have eye disorder like narrow-angle glaucoma
- If you have liver or kidney disease
- If you have respiratory issues
- If you have a heart condition
- If you are pregnant or a breastfeeding mother
Side effects
- Side effects of Patroxta Plus include the following:
- Nausea
- Vomiting

- You have any allergic reactions after taking Patroxta Plus.

- You have withdrawal symptoms like agitation, nausea, tremor, sweating and confusion.
- You are using any ayurvedic/ herbal medicines, vitamins and other health supplements.
Directions for Use
- Take the Patroxta Plus exactly as prescribed by the doctor.
- Take this medicine with or without food or as prescribed, preferably at the same time every day.
- Take the tablet as a whole orally with water. Do not break or crush the tablet or chew this medicine.
- Do not take this tablet with other medications without consulting your doctor.
- Do not stop taking this medication suddenly, as it may lead to withdrawal side effects.
- Do not exceed the dosage on your own without consulting a doctor.

How Does It Work?
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Patroxta Plus interaction with MAOI (monoamine oxidase inhibitors) like Selegiline, Rasagiline, Isocarboxazid, and antidepressants, lithium, triptans, buspirone, amphetamines, tramadol, tryptophan, is strictly contraindicated as it may cause serotonin syndrome.
- Patroxta Plus interaction with metoprolol can lead to excessive bradycardia (slow heart rate).
- Patroxta Plus interaction with antipsychotics (haloperidol, pimozide), antihistamines and tricyclic antidepressants can prolong QT interval on ECG and alter heart rhythm.
- Patroxta Plus interaction with NSAIDs, aspirin, and other medications increase the risk of bleeding.
- Patroxta Plus interaction with herbal products like St John’s wort can lead to life-threatening side effects
Interactions with food items
- Avoid consuming Patroxta Plus with cola drinks, chocolates and caffeine-containing food items like tea or coffee as it can result in serotonin syndrome (high levels of serotonin).
