Medical Description
Ornof OZ tablet is an antibiotic medicine used for the treatment of diarrhoea caused by mixed organisms in adults. It is a combination medicine containing ofloxacin and ornidazole as its active ingredients. It works by inhibiting the growth of infection-causing organisms, thus preventing the spread of infection.
Take it as prescribed by the doctor in dose and duration as prescribed and never miss or skip a dose. Do not stop taking Ornof OZ, always complete the entire course of treatment with antibiotic medicine. Incomplete treatment may result in treatment failure and increase the risk of re-infection.
You can take this medicine with or without food. should not be taken by children below 18 years of age. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding and about all the medicines and supplements you take and all the conditions or diseases you suffer from, before starting the Ornof OZ tablet.
Uses
Contraindications
- If you are allergic to ofloxacin, ornidazole or any of the ingredients of Ornof OZ tablet.
- If you are allergic to the class of medicines called Fluoroquinolone.
- If you have a history of fits (epilepsy).
- If you have problems related to the tendon (tissue connecting muscles to bones) like inflammation and swelling of the tendons (tendonitis).
- If you are pregnant or are planning to have a baby or if you are breastfeeding.
- If your age is less than 18 years.
- If you have Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase deficiency (an inherited disorder that affects red blood cells) or a family history of this deficiency.

- You feel strain/ pain in tendons (tendinitis), immediately stop this medicine. Do not move the joint and inform your doctor immediately.
- You are experiencing continuous or bloody diarrhoea.
- You experience sudden and severe pain in your abdomen, back or chest. Immediately contact your doctor.
- You have diabetes.
- You have myasthenia gravis (a condition causing muscle weakness).
- You experience suicidal thoughts, immediately inform your doctor.
- You experience fits or have a history of fits.
- You feel restlessness, lightheadedness, confusion or hallucinations.
- You develop allergic reactions like fever or rashes.
- You have a kidney or heart problem.
- You are an elderly patient or a female.
- You have glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (an inherited disorder that affects red blood cells).
- Ornof OZ tablet should not be consumed by children below 18 years of age.

- Store Ornof OZ tablets at or below 25°C in a cool and dry place.
- Protect it from light and moisture.
- Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.

Missed a Dose
- If you have missed any dose of Ornof OZ tablet, take it as soon as you remember.
- If it's time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule.
- Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.
- It is advisable not to miss any dose of antibiotics as it can result in a failure of the therapy.

Interactions with other medicines
- Some medicines can affect the way this medicine works or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
- Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
- Especially if you are taking medicines to treat your stomach ulcers, asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), psychiatric illness, fits or epilepsy.
- Medicines used to treat acidity (antacids) like Sucralfate, iron tablets, and antacids containing calcium and magnesium should not be taken two hours before or after this medicine.
- Medicines used to treat pain and inflammation (NSAIDs) can increase the chance of fits.
- Increased chances of bleeding if taken along with Warfarin.
- Blood sugar can drop if you are on Insulin, Glibenclamide and thus careful monitoring of blood glucose is needed.
