Ornof OZ 200 mg/500 mg Tablet

• If you are allergic to ofloxacin, ornidazole or any of the ingredients of Ornof OZ tablet.
• If you are allergic to the class of medicines called Fluoroquinolone.
• If you have a history of fits (epilepsy).
• If you have problems related to the tendon (tissue connecting muscles to bones) like inflammation and swelling of the tendons (tendonitis).
• If you are pregnant or are planning to have a baby or if you are breastfeeding.
• If your age is less than 18 years.
• If you have Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase deficiency (an inherited disorder that affects red blood cells) or a family history of this deficiency.

• Nausea

• Stomach pain
• Cough

Other General Warnings

• You feel strain/ pain in tendons (tendinitis), immediately stop this medicine. Do not move the joint and inform your doctor immediately.
• You are experiencing continuous or bloody diarrhoea.
• You experience sudden and severe pain in your abdomen, back or chest. Immediately contact your doctor.
• You have diabetes.
• You have myasthenia gravis (a condition causing muscle weakness).
• You experience suicidal thoughts, immediately inform your doctor.
• You experience fits or have a history of fits.
• You feel restlessness, lightheadedness, confusion or hallucinations.
• You develop allergic reactions like fever or rashes.
• You have a kidney or heart problem.
• You are an elderly patient or a female.
• You have glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (an inherited disorder that affects red blood cells).
• Ornof OZ tablet should not be consumed by children below 18 years of age.

• Store Ornof OZ tablets at or below 25°C in a cool and dry place.
• Protect it from light and moisture.
• Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.

• Ornof OZ tablet is an antibiotic. It is used to treat diarrhoea caused by a mixed infection in adults.
• It should not be used for treating any other condition unless specified by the doctor.
• Take the medication with a full glass of water: This helps to prevent stomach upset and improves the absorption of the medication.
• You should always complete the entire course of treatment with antibiotics as prescribed by your doctor even if you start feeling better after taking this medicine. Missing a dose or stopping this medicine can cause treatment failure.
• Inform the doctor about your complete medical history and whether you are currently breastfeeding, planning a pregnancy, or pregnant before beginning the treatment with an Ornof Oz tablet.
• During the treatment, side effects may include diarrhoea, headache, nausea, altered taste or stomach pain, etc. These signs are typically not severe and go away on their own.
• You should avoid driving or operating heavy machinery if you experience drowsiness or dizziness after using Ornof Oz tablet.

Overdose

Missed a Dose

• If you have missed any dose of Ornof OZ tablet, take it as soon as you remember.
• If it's time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule.
• Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.
• It is advisable not to miss any dose of antibiotics as it can result in a failure of the therapy.

How Does It Work?

• Ornof OZ tablet works by the combined action of both its components - ofloxacin and ornidazole.
• Ofloxacin works by inhibiting the multiplication of the bacteria, stopping the growth.
• Ornidazole works by stopping the growth of the bacteria or parasites causing the infection.

Interactions with other medicines

• Some medicines can affect the way this medicine works or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
• Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
• Especially if you are taking medicines to treat your stomach ulcers, asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), psychiatric illness, fits or epilepsy.
• Medicines used to treat acidity (antacids) like Sucralfate, iron tablets, and antacids containing calcium and magnesium should not be taken two hours before or after this medicine.
• Medicines used to treat pain and inflammation (NSAIDs) can increase the chance of fits.
• Increased chances of bleeding if taken along with Warfarin.
• Blood sugar can drop if you are on Insulin, Glibenclamide and thus careful monitoring of blood glucose is needed.
