Monocef-SB 1gm injection contains a combination of ceftriaxone and sulbactam, a higher antibiotic medicine. It is used to treat various types of bacterial infections. This injection acts by inhibitin
g the formation of the cell wall and kills the various susceptible bacterial organisms. Monocef Sb 1g will be given to you by a doctor or nurse at the hospital or clinical setup. You may experience adverse effects like diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, headache, injection site, pain and inflammation. If you feel the side effects persist or your condition worsens, you should contact your doctor immediately. You should tell your doctor about all the medicines and supplements you take and all the diseases or conditions you suffer from or if you are pregnant or planning pregnancy or are breastfeeding before starting this medicine.

Contraindications of MONOCEF SB 1GM DRY VIAL OF 1 POWDER FOR INJECTION
- If you are allergic to ceftriaxone, sulbactam or any of the ingredient of Monocef-SB 1gm injection.
- If you are allergic to cephalosporins, penicillins, monobactams and carbapenems.
- If the patient is a premature baby.
- If a newborn has jaundice or is on calcium injection.
- If a newborn is suffering from increased bilirubin (liver enzyme) in the blood.

- You are suffering from the disease bowel inflammation (Colitis).

How Does It Work?
- Monocef-SB 1gm injection acts by killing the bacteria responsible for infections.
- However, bacteria make an enzyme (beta-lactamases) that can destroy Ceftriaxone.
- Sulbactam inactivates this enzyme and hence helps Ceftriaxone to function optimally.
Interactions of MONOCEF SB 1GM DRY VIAL OF 1 POWDER FOR INJECTION
Interactions with other medicines
- Monocef-SB 1gm injection should never be given along with Ringer's or Hartmann's solution.
- If you are taking warfarin, then there is an increased risk of bleeding.
- This injection should never be given through the IV line through which calcium-containing solutions are given.
