Uses
- Mirdep 15 mg tablets are used in the treatment of the following:
- Clinical depression
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder
- Anxiety disorder
Contraindications
- Do not take Mirdep 15 mg tablets or use with caution:
- If you are hypersensitive or allergic to Mirtazapine or other antidepressants and other inactive substances present in the medication
- If you take medications belonging to the group of monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI). There should be a time gap of 14 days between your last dosage of MAOIs and this medication
Side effects
- Mirdep 15 mg tablets have the following side effects:
- Uncontrolled muscle movements
- Swelling of eyelids or face
- Mood swings
- Abnormal thinking
- Difficulty in breathing
- Change in libido
- Fever with chills
- Weight gain
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Increased frequency of urination
- Irregular menstrual periods
- Agitation
- Anxiety
- Dizziness
- Abnormal dreams

Other General Warnings
- You have Pheochromocytoma, a tumour of adrenal glands, since it can increase the risk of developing side effects.
- You have allergic reactions such as rashes, swelling, severe dizziness, or difficulty breathing after taking this medicine.
- You have a history of seizure disorders. Mirdep 15 mg tablets can increase the risk of recurrent seizures. This medicine should be immediately stopped if you develop seizures or notice an increase in the frequency of seizures.
- You have narrow-angle glaucoma, a condition in which the iris of the eye bulges forward and narrows the drainage angle. Mirdep 15 mg can worsen the condition.
- You have a history of serotonin syndrome that causes hallucinations, seizures, fever, excessive sweating, shivering, increased heart rate, changes in blood pressure etc.
- You have suicidal thoughts or experience a behaviour change. Any unusual symptoms or changes in behaviour should be reported to the doctor immediately.
- You want to discontinue the medicine. Suddenly stopping Mirdep 15 mg tablets may cause withdrawal symptoms, more so if the medicine has been used for a long time.
Directions for Use
- Take Mirdep 15 mg tablets as directed by the doctor.
- Take the pill at the same time every day to ensure that a constant level of medication is maintained in the blood.
- Swallow the pill whole with a glass of water.
- Do not break, crush or chew the tablet; this can reduce its efficacy.
- Take Mirdep 15 mg tablets with or without food.
- Do not take more medicine than what your doctor has recommended. Consult your doctor if you feel that your prescribed dosage is not working.
- Do not stop taking medicine without consulting your doctor.

- Amitriptyline (medication to treat mood disorders such as depression) increases the risk of serotonin syndrome that can cause hallucinations, seizures, fever, excessive sweating, etc.
- Cisapride (medication to treat heartburn in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD) - increases the risk of irregular heart rhythm that can be life-threatening
- Fluoxetine (medicine to treat depression, panic or anxiety) increases the risk of serotonin syndrome that can cause hallucinations, seizures, fever, excessive sweating, etc.
- Linezolid (medication to treat infections such as pneumonia) increases the risk of serotonin syndrome that can cause hallucinations, seizures, fever, excessive sweating, etc.
- Mifepristone (medication to medically terminate pregnancy) increases the risk of irregular heart rhythm that can be life-threatening.
- Moxifloxacin (medication to treat bacterial infections of the body) increases the risk of irregular heart rhythm that can be life-threatening.
- Ondansetron (medication to prevent nausea and vomiting) increases the risk of serotonin syndrome that can cause hallucinations, seizures, fever, excessive sweating, etc.
- Tramadol (medication to treat pain) increases the risk of serotonin syndrome that can cause hallucinations, seizures, fever, excessive sweating, etc.
- Quinidine (medication to treat certain types of irregular heartbeats) increases the risk of irregular heart rhythm that can be life-threatening.
- Selegiline (medication to treat symptoms of Parkinson's disease) increases the risk of serotonin syndrome that can cause hallucinations, seizures, fever, excessive sweating, etc.
- 5-Hydroxytryptophan (medication to treat depression) increases the risk of serotonin syndrome that can cause hallucinations, seizures, fever, excessive sweating, etc.
Interactions with food items
- Food does not influence the effect of Mirdep 15 mg. So, a regular diet can be continued unless advised otherwise by the doctor. Additionally, inform the doctor about any supplements or herbal drinks you take before beginning your Mirdep 15 mg tablets.
