• If you have a known hypersensitivity or severe allergic reaction to mercaptopurine or any of the inactive ingredients.
• If you have severe bone marrow suppression, your doctor will assess whether treatment should be started or continued.
• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Use it during pregnancy only when clearly necessary and under medical supervision.

• Bone marrow suppression leading to low white blood cell count (neutropenia), low red blood cell count (anemia), and low platelet count (thrombocytopenia)
• Nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite
• Liver function test abnormalities

• Diarrhea and abdominal pain
• Mouth sores (stomatitis)
• Skin rash, itching, or hyperpigmentation
• Temporary hair thinning or hair loss

• Severe, life-threatening infections (due to suppressed immune system)
• Liver toxicity (jaundice, severe hepatotoxicity)
• Pancreatitis (severe abdominal pain radiating to the back)
• Secondary malignancies, including lymphoproliferative disorders and other malignancies, have been reported, particularly with long-term immunosuppressive use.

Other General Warnings

• You have pre-existing liver or kidney impairment, as dosage adjustments may be necessary.
• You experience signs of an active infection, such as fever, chills, or persistent cough.
• You develop severe abdominal pain, particularly if associated with nausea or vomiting, as this may indicate pancreatitis.
• You are starting a new medication, particularly for gout, as this requires an immediate review of your dosage.

• Take Mertabto tablet orally exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily.
• Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water; do not crush, split, or chew them.
• You may take mercaptopurine consistently with or without food; follow the same method each day unless your doctor advises otherwise.
• Wash your hands thoroughly after handling the tablets and keep them out of reach of children.
